Apparently it was because of the 2 times he gave the ball away, talk about throwing the kid under the bus- disgusting from Struber,
The man seems an arrogant so and so. To shatter a kid like that is bang out of order, although some of the stuff he tried to do (especially the back heel) didn't come off it's nice to see a young lad like that express himself. Pull him to one side whilst the game is stopped and have a quick word. To drag him after 20 minutes is ridiculous. We had two young lads, full of confidence in Styles and Odour and Struber has just shattered them inside 45 mins. The moral of the squad has to be at a seasonal low after the managers show of poor man management last night.
The commentator said he was carrying a slight injury I believe. But if that's wrong info, then Struber can **** off as far as I'm concerned.
The two times he gave the ball away should have cost us goals. Thankfully they didn't. Subbing him off though wasn't needed unless he was injured, especially given he won our POTM the day before.
Sky and bbc had it as an injury but I didn’t think so at the time. So it looks like he’s properly thrown him under the bus. And yet he leaves on mads Andersen and Jordan Williams, neither of whom have shown anything like the ability or potential of young Clarke. He’s not played well last night it has to be said - but dragging him off to play a teenage German signed from Austria, who in fairness looks ok but who has little to no concept of the English game - and also play an out of his depth right back on the left, to make him even more uncomfortable? Whilst I might add simultaneously playing our one midfield player who has the potential to create, albeit not consistently but still, in a defensive midfield position; our only quality centre forward in midfield, and a decent right winger who lacks a natural finishing ability at centre forward - alongside a three foot six target man. He wears nice hats, and looks quite cool for a manager in jeans and trainers. Very Pep. Aside from that there’s absolutely nothing about him you’d want to retain. People criticised Stendel for being one dimensional and refusing to change it - the diamond isn’t working, we don’t have the right players to play in any of the positions anyway, and he still plays it week in week out. He continuously selects mads Andersen and Jordan Williams, maybe harsh on JW but neither should be near the team and mads wouldn’t get in any more than four or five league one teams, if that. That said it isn’t entirely his fault this is the squad he’s been left with. He’s clearly influenced the signings of Sollbauer, Ludewig and Ritzmaier but he wanted and needed more, or at least better. He didn’t get it, neither did the previous head coach who if backed even slightly would still be here, still be loved by the fans and sitting comfortably at the very least in mid-table. I don’t see this squad, minus the obvious few who will certainly be cashed in, being a challenger for promotion from league one. In fact I’d say it would be more likely we’d be relegated than promoted without the addition of some actual footballers.
He didn't have the best opening 25 minutes, possibly his worst, but I still would not have taken him off. Struber has dragged Bahre off a couple of times during a first half previously so we all know he does it, just surprised me that it was Clarke.
Whilst I might add simultaneously playing our one midfield player who has the potential to create, albeit not consistently but still, in a defensive midfield position; our only quality centre forward in midfield, and a decent right winger who lacks a natural finishing ability at centre forward - alongside a three foot six target man. This....this is why our formation doesnt work.
Simoes was the player i would have taken off, instead of styles (unless he was jiggered, which he didnt appear to be).
Here we go. Someone says something and it’s like watching someone roll a small snowball from the top of the hill. And there’s no one there to stop it before the snowball gets as big as a house. Well - there just might be someone there to stop it. ME. Everyone currently on here is berating the owners, manager and players. Everyone is getting it in the neck. Stop it FFS !!! If you have anything like a memory - then you will realise the problems of this season stem from the recruitment strategy of bringing in young players and developing them. Championship level competition dosen’t allow for that. So the owners got that wrong and I hope they are grown up enough to admit it. BUT - that doesn’t mean the players recruited are poor players - because it would be totally wrong to say that. We have some fantastic players at the club - but we don’t have enough of them that are quite ready for the Championship. And neither does it mean that we have a poor manager. Because IMO in Struber we have now one of the best managers this club has seen. He’s tactically far better than Stendel that’s for sure.
I can understand many of the criticisms of Struber for subbing odour, but, he was right. Three times 'bad decision making' nearly cost us a goal. This is big league stuff, not Sunday morning, for big stakes. Odour will be better off for this, it is a reality check for him. It should be an incentive to work hard and improve his game. If he doesn't learn from this he will not make the best of the opportunity that he's been given. Had Struber kept him on and a fourth mistake cost us a goal then both Struber and Odour would have got some real 'stick' on here. I will bet my pension Odour starts against Fulham. Struber is not as daft or inept as some are making out.
If he wasn't injured then it's just total madness to have brought him off and shoved William's to left back.
Agree. Struber has inherited a team of players - some are not up to Championship standards eg Cavare - while others are young players some of whom are not quite ready for the Championship. Struber has been a successful manager. He more than anyone on this message board will know that Clarke Odour is a massive talent and he will know how to manage him.
