Without him paying the bills week in, week out we wouldn’t have a club. It’s not a glorified money spinner of a club, we don’t have billionaires queuing around the block to take us over. We are a small northern town who can and did get into financial bother over a few million... If you think that they are earning money out of the club, you’re wrong. If you think they’ve made some mistakes with strategy, and communication to fans, you’re right! In my opinion btw. There are also a number of others who should be doing the communicating, but one of the top fellas does... says a lot about the fella to me.
He doesn't pay any bills whatsoever. The bills up to now have been paid by us, the fans, along with Brad Potts, Kieffer Moore, Ethan Pinnock and Liam Lindsay.
the club is self sustaining. He doesn’t pay any bills. Other than the purchase of the club any money that has been spent has come from sponsorship, tickets sales, player sales etc, That’s the entire reason why people are unhappy with him
Did you miss the bit where they made it clear they weren't putting any additional money in and that any expenditure would come from player sales?
Do you think that the club runs at the kind of profit that would enable us to do this? It would be nice to see the full accounts so your speculation could be proven. The overheads at a football club are immense. And I don’t see many other relevant income streams. His backing gives us financial stability. Without that kind of backing... well we’d need another Patrick Cryne. And I’m not sure there are many of those kind of people around Barnsley.
If selling Potts, Lindsey, Moore pinnock and Moncur plus getting £6m unexpected windfall from promotion doesn't cover the costs of signing unknowns from the Austrian leagues then we may as well pack in now
I dont think Lee sits there on his Samsung phone tweeting Im pretty sure he has someone who does that for him so hopefully he doesnt see any of the vile stuff. The communication is poor and for this championship season the recruitment wasnt good enough but i would like to think as a club we are in a good financial place and with the likes of Odour, Styles Simeos, Collins, Williams, Brown, Chaplin, Diaby, Halme and maybe Anderson we may have a group of young players who may progress in to good enough players for BFC to give us some form of success.
Helen - there’s a tab at the bottom of the Twitter (?) that was also there before most of the more reasoned replies which show the responses that I am referring to.
As you rightly say, without seeing the accounts, it's impossible to say with certainty. And even then it will be difficult, because they'll use the small company exemptions to limit the information they release. But, intuitively, I just don't see what possible funds they could have put in. If they did, what have they spent it on? I don't think they've put a penny into the club and I don't think they ever will.
Give over! It’s all from better player sales with the purchase of poorer, cheaper player replacements, promotion money and gate receipts to balance the books. Cheins putting fook all in like the rest of his posse and they’ve made that quite clear. You must be a member of his staff with a response like this I’ll wager!
You think Chien Lee, pays someone to send a two word tweet every few months? He won't even pay someone to staff a bar at a football club he owns.
I think this is the main point. I do not have any problems wirh foreign owners per se. However whatever or where ever the owners come from doesnt matter....we could have employed local people to do what they have done. I was expecting a wealth of ideas in generating money and bringing in new investment, with their international contacts. In reality, they have sold good players, replaced them with cheaper ones (as per the plan). I dont want them out or hate them....i wish them to be more explicit in their actions and more engaging with the loyal fan base and a damm site more flexible with the plan.
What kind of backing do the owners give? They have made it crystal clear they will not put money into the club (so its not financial), now theres a new debate on how well they are professionally running the club.
IMHO I don't like Twitter. It is, for the most part, a medium on which to abuse people and I don't condone that. Down with this sort of thing, as Father Ted said. I don't like the British media. Their lack of research into our owners and their oft repeated but entirely bogus 'Billionaires' mantra has people still believing that Chien lives like a Emperor paying surfs to make Tweets for him, funding the running of the club and that the next transfer window will be the one, no matter how many fruitless transfer windows have passed. I don't think only communicating when we win is very wise. It is bound to cause ill feeling even in those who choose not to react, particularly after such a long period of silence without a victory. Either Tweet after every game, offering condolences, congratulations or words that we were unfortunate, or just shurrup.
Do you really think that it doesn’t cost much to run a football club? Even best estimates would put it at over £10 million pounds... now I know we’ve naively sold some players but you make it sound like a couple of your mates could find some money down the backs of your settee and run it...
So you think there are a load of people who will rock up to run us... pumping large amounts of money in to buy players and not expect anything back? I’m not a happy clapper as many of you seem to think. But reality is that we are currently financially stable. Without that, we could be and possibly would be a Bury. We nearly folded with much less debt!
Because they haven't sold all their players. A lot of clubs put points first. You can't compare our finances when we sell players just in case another bid doesn't come in with clubs who turn down bids. They are two totally different business plans. Do you think our owners have been lying to us? That they have been putting their own money in whilst telling us they haven't? Why would they do that?
