Probably ≤ 300k. Although, we will have definitely retained a SUBSTANTIAL interest in the player's future.
I dont think so not for a permanent transfer of course the undisclosed fee might be negative so we are in effect paying some wages for the rest of the season though I doubt it I think if it was a free we would have said something along the lines of we released him so he could get first team football elsewhere so we probably got some nominal amount for him cant see it being much and unlikely to be a five figure sum. Does seem a slightly terse statement on the club site though so there is clearly some falling out somwhere
Our loss their gain, better than williams and ludewig. Obviously the management dont select players on ability.
Should have been given a chance at right side midfield. Played brilliantly in League One but a liability defensively at this level. Can't help but think some good coaching could have opened up a real special player there but we'll never know. One of the strongest players on the ball I can remember in a reds shirt. Good luck Dimi!
The end of season clearance sale has begun early. It's the modern way. Tranditional January Sales, Become Boxing Day Sales becomes Black Friday Sales.
And the article says he had his first training session with them last Friday. So deal must have been done by Thursday
Hope he does well there. Memories of him rampaging down the right, opposition players bouncing off him and his thunderous thighs !
Good post. League 1 was his level. That’s the reason Hudds never signed him in the first place. He was just too inconsistent at Champ Level and occasionally in L1 he was too. But overall, last season in L1 he had a great season. Let’s not forget the trouble he sometimes allegedly caused in the background too..... Like you say, on his day he was great but folk seem to forget some of the bad games he’s had pretty quickly. For me, Jordan Williams is turning into a good player and deserves the spot. And, let’s face it, has a higher sell-on value too
His first game in relation to us was for Huddersfield in a friendly. I saw enough then, he was a strong but clumsy beast going forward but couldn't defend. I did not want us to sign him.
Good luck to the lad, was great last season in L1 but you can't have a defender in your side that doesn't want to track back and defend. We were able to get away with it last season as we were better than most sides. But this year we are not and we simply cannot get away with having him in the side.
Has the article been changed? It says this now which doesn't seem to fit with these comments. Dimitri Cavaré has finalised a move to FC Sion, following two and a half seasons at Oakwell. With the defender’s contract set to expire in the summer and his last competitive appearance coming in November of 2019, Cavaré has finalised a permanent transfer to the Swiss outfit for an undisclosed fee. The full-back arrived in South Yorkshire from Rennes during the 2017 summer transfer window, going on to make 65 first team appearances in all competitions. ‘Dimi’ will be fondly remembered for an impressive 2018-19 campaign, which saw the Reds make an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship from League One. Barnsley FC thank Cavaré for his service and wish him well.
The first person you quoted is referring to the last paragraph of the story and it remains. I don't think there was anything negative intended there.
I know the last line is still there but as he is referred to as Dimi earlier in the article I thought that may have been added after the poster read it.
No I don't think it has been altered, he was always referred to by his first name in the earlier paragraphs
