Anyone got a question they would like to put to Gerhard Struber? The Trust Q&A with him is tomorrow night in the Legends Suite so you could ask it in person OR post the question below and we'll try and get it answered If you can make it in person the details are: Tomorrow at 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM Oakwell Legends Suite Our next Supporters’ Trust evening will be with the main man himself Gerhard Struber on Tuesday 18th February at Oakwell. More details to follow, but the dress code of Red Bull Salzburg beanie hat and jeans will be optional! Tickets are not required, this is an open meeting for all Barnsley Fans,
Can you ask him something about his style of play? Will he be flexible in the team formation moving forward or is it a case of the diamond is forever? Additionally, the signing of Ludewig - was he signed on loan with a view to signing him permanently if he performs?
Please tell him that when the ponty or our away support sing “Struber Struber giz a wave” just to pop his hand up. It’s heartbreaking when he blanks us.
Does he feel the self alienation of the board towards the fan base is causing negative feelings that the team could do without at the moment? Has he seen owt of Conway last few months? has a search party been sent?
Why he chose to freeze out Cavare, Pinnilos and Thiam. Also who he thinks will die this week in Eastenders for their 35 year anniversary episodes.
How many pitches must a man play on, before they call him a man? How many balls must a centreback clear, Before it reaches the stand? And how many clubs get to breach FFP, Before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend....
Ask him why he thinks it's OK to dress like he does on the touchline? Tell him his appearance is unprofessional and that any self respecting Manager would at least dress in the club's training attire. Tkmaxx mannequin.
Is he still trying to fill squad with a player in centre midfield. Looks like we now have a team that can take anyone on seing Saturdays performance. Is what's happening now transfering from the trading ground to the game where we can win a few games.. not getting complacent like
Yes - there are no questions for Gerhard - he’s doing the best he can with the cards he’s been dealt. There isn’t any questions for Dane Murphy either - because it now looks like he has been told to say nowt. There are plenty of questions for the directors tho.
The Diamond 1. Most of the players were brought to the club by a previous manager. Those players were signed to play a different system (4-4-2 or 4-3-3). Both those systems had width in midfield, so when the diamond was introduced, many of the midfield wide players were surplus to requirements and were either loaned out or had to adapt to different positions. Is that not very wasteful of resources, both playing and financial. 2. When the system was first introduced, it had a tall player (Halme) at the defensive midfield point of the diamond. This was useful because with Mowatt there, we have only 2 tall players for set pieces and are out-numbered by the tall players of the opposition. 3. When the diamond was first introduced, attacking width was provided by the full backs. Clearly, that way of playing was too open, because whilst we created more, we also conceded more. Currently, our width is provided by the front two, who as a consequence are not close enough to each other to provide a coherent threat. We concede fewer goals because we are less stretched, but we also score fewer goals because our two front players are not close enough to each other to act as a unified threat. In an ideal world, which version of the system does Herr Struber prefer? 4. It is clear that short passes, and retaining possession is important to the system, and this way of playing has been pursued, even though it has been hard for some of our defenders (Andersen). Preston in particular defeated the system completely because there was no alternative to that basic system. Does Herr Struber believe that we need a tall player in the forward line to give us an alternative way of playing when opposition tactics defeat our short passing plans? 5. I know that future plans rely heavily upon which league we will be playing in next season, but how would Herr Struber see the playing staff changing during the summer transfer window, particularly with regard to the way that the diamond works.
Mads Andersen has made costly mistakes on an almost weekly basis throughout your period here. Why did you persist in playing him week in, week out only to suddenly drop him and quite publicly criticise him? If you could see the errors why did you keep picking him? If you couldn't see the errors why comment on them publicly? Also related. Mads has been particularly uncomfortable playing the ball out from the back. He has a reputation amongst supporters as the worst passer of the ball at the club. Why did you continue to play a tactic of passing the ball to him at every opportunity? Why didn't you change this when it was clear it wasn't working weeks ago? Surely you heard the supporters booing
Also. We have regularly been told that we have a market leading recruitment strategy that is based on statistics and a huge database yet when you came in all you have done is signed players from Austria. Are we to believe that between August and January our recruitment team have been unable to find a single player on our database and utilising our system that would benefit this squad? Or is it just a coincidence that they're all people you already know and they were coincidentally the best players available?
