I often park in East Dene for games. I didn’t yesterday as went on the bus but some friends of mine always park there. Yesterday arriving just before 2pm they were turned away and told it was Away fans only. That seems bizarre never heard of that before Also never saw any advance warning. Did anyone else have problems or know in advance?
I' ve parked in there for 20 years, lately I haven't bothered because its often full and they even charge you if you go into the club and buy their beer which annoys me, never known it be for away fans only in all that time.
They looked like east europeans.Car pulled up at entrance to east dene car park and a bloke got out and attacked another bloke on street. Then 2 or 3 others got out of car but luckily for the bloke being attacked there were some police at the club who went and intervened.
Two Eastern Europeans had a car crash right outside the club entrance. One of them, despite a large police presence, got his baseball bat out and attacked the other driver. Not aware of any continuation of gang violence, just stating what happened. The police dealt with it swiftly, however, they instructed The East Dene to temporarily lower the barrier to the car park which caused a few attempting to park there much annoyance. The East Dene opened from 11am and in all fairness the car park was full by 2pm. Its first come first served, no reservations. Its incorrect that it was away fans only. Its also incorrect that theres a charge to go into the club. Its only a parking charge on matchdays that applies. There is no entry fee, although as a WMC they can ask for non-members to sign in.
I think all wakeyred meant was that you have to pay for parking whether you use it just as a carpark or park up, spend cash in the club and then go to the ground. I assume he's suggesting offering free parking if you spend X amount in the club too. A bit like young nudger with the sculpture park really.
