Found this interesting as the media don't seem to be reporting how many have recovered. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
Just out of curiosity what was your issue? I had a replacement heart valve done there last year (the only similarity I have with Mr Jagger) - took me a few months to get over it but I'm much better now although I seem to recall the few days immediately after my op was weird - I'm sure I had spells of hallucinating
There is an argument that you might be better getting it now - the health services are not collapsing under the strain so could give you good treatment and you would develop some immunity. The risk of death is the downside though.
So sorry to hear of your problems, old mate. I wish you a speedy and long lasting recovery. Best wishes Kev
Serious indeed - i feel quite lucky now especially as my op only needed a small incision - the miracle of modern science - hope the rehab goes well - when you get out and get better (and you will although it might not seem it just yet), better enough to do any fundraising like sponsored walk/bike ride etc let me know and I'll willingly join in (not that I believe we as a rich country should have to do it) as a thank you to the staff there.
I know Rushy, you look after yourself and find out you've had a dodgy ticker all along. Hopefully I'll laugh about it in the future. Not much funny at the minute. Take it easy and stay miserable
Lol! It’s only supporting BFC and this board at times that brings my miserable side across Chris honestly I’m generally a lot more light hearted. I thought I was in the wars after being skittled off my motorbike last September by a van and having multi-cruciate ligament reconstructive surgery on my right knee, currently still off work rehabbing after surgery early January, however it’s a mere paper-cut to your situation pal. I’m up at the northern general hospital twice a week currently to see the physios Anyhow, wishing you a trouble free speedy recovery pal .
There's 2 cases in Barnsley now. https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/news/06...s-director-of-public-health-barnsley-council/
That's right. Just been on ITV Calendar news bulletin. It looks inevitable that before long, it going to be a countrywide epidemic. UK holidaymakers still going places in Europe that are affected re-Italy. It's to be hoped they are responsible in that they get checked out on their return and take the appropriate precautions in not spreading the virus if they find they are in fact infected.
You can get some spanking cheap deals to Italy right now. Business class flights and four star hotels for a couple of hundred quid. Downside is that you have to self isolate on your return.
Perspective (or rather lack of).... BBC banner headline this morning i.e. "Italy Corona virus death toll jumps to nearly 200I"" In the main body of the article it also says Average age is 81 most with underlying existing health issues but then says.. "According to government data, 4.25% of individuals confirmed to have the coronavirus have died, the highest rate in the world". Err.... look at the average age ...Italy has a far higher proportion of people in their 80s than does China due to better healthcare. The problem is Govt, media (including the BBC) and even the WHO are issuing statements that do not give the full facts and sensational headlines are what most people (including a few on here) take as gospel without delving deeper. Furthermore in spite of free flu vaccinations offered to over 65s (we had ours) Italy, pretty much as usual, has had a major Winter flu epidemic this year.. "Since the start of flu season in October 2019, 2,768,000 cases across the country have been confirmed by laboratory tests, according to data from InfluNet published on January 19. A total of 488,000 cases were reported last week alone, signalling that flu season is hitting its peak in January as predicted. 240 deaths have so far been reported, slightly lower than the expected 258. Most of the fatal cases are elderly patients who suffered complications after contracting the virus." This confirmed by a study...In the winter seasons from 2013/14 to 2016/17, an estimated average of 5,290,000 ILI cases occurred in Italy, corresponding to an incidence of 9%. More than 68,000 deaths attributable to flu epidemics were estimated in the study period. The more I read, the less I trust the media to give us a true picture of what is happening. I also think even though they are experts, the W.H.O. seem incapable of issuing media press releases that don't sensationalise the situation. What ever the reason, be it incompetence or 'bigging up' their roll I have no idea, IMO they are as guilty as the media in causing alarm in the general population.
They've cleared the e-cig stalls this morning and knocking these out in the market. Conway will have sued them by 12 o clock, for using the club badge.
For once I broadly agree with you. I need a lie down. There is plenty of good information on most 'respectable' websites but it requires reading past the click bait headlines (must be a great time to increase advert price). Eventually it will become another winter virus that people contract and/or are given a vaccination against. That said clearly no solace if your elderly relative gets it and dies. In some ways governments and WHO are on a hiding to nothing. If they don't take reasonable precautions then they're seen as derilicting their mandate in protecting their citizens. The other side is they are told they're over the top. It's mainly, in my view just important to slow down its spread so Healthcare doesn't get swamped at once with an overload of cases. Beyond that there's not much you can do. The great plague swept over the globe even with relatively low levels of world travel, so they can't stop it. The only other thing of some concern is the fact people are still testing positive 14 days after apparently being given the all clear, suggesting it may stay in the system for a length of time heightening reinfection levels.
