Sadly watched a very poor side beat an even worse side 2-0 today... We can trot out all this seasons criticisms...selling quality players. poor investment.lack of communication. etc etc but the truth is and has been most of the season we are a poor side and the league dont lie. walking home today discussing who will be left for league 1 next season I was reminded of a discussion on radio one day and a retired footballer recounted being relegated and how the dressing room knew 10 games from the end that they were down and that some performed in accord with that belief...sadly wondered that today ...
Cardiff were a solid experienced well drilled side who didn’t have to play that well to beat us .Millwall a week on Tuesday are similar to Cardiff so I’m expecting the same result unfortunately.
I felt that we didnt have the experience nor the quality in August before we started the season. I was pleasantly surprised to see how we played vs Fulham first game but we have sadly demonstrated what i thought fir the rest if the season. Its true we aren't good enough and worrying that the club feel that we haven't underestimated the league.
If you saw millwall take forest apart on Friday night, you would think differently. Fast counter attacking play which unfortunately was good to watch.
We have bounced back after poor performances before. Hopefully we can do it again on Tuesday night. However, there are not enough teams falling into the drop zone quickly enough for us to catch them up. I have been resigned to League one football next season for some time now.
