I don't get the loo rolls thing myself. The virus doesn't have flu or cold like symptoms. Unless people are worried about getting the sh1ts.
I just assumed it was all the millions of closet Wednesday fans, all stocking up on loo rolls ready for chucking them on the pitch at the play-off final. This virus story is just a cover.
Latest figures are 319 positive cases out of a population of 60m. Most of these cases will result in mild flu like symptoms and most will recover. Govt and tv companies should be ashamed at helping fuel the mass hysteria over this.
An interview on Sky News at lunchtime with the head of one the UKs largest loo roll manufacturers. (paraphrasing) - Are you having any problems keeping up with demand? - No, we're ok. Working hard, but ok. Are prices of any of your raw materials going up as a result of companies profiteering? - No. Do you foresee any problems getting supplies to supermarkets? - No, not really. The interviewer sounded ever so disappointed.
Fourth death from corona has just been announced by Hancock on the commons. Well done to you Matt but you never said much about all those hundreds of people who have died through his and the Tory ******** austerity and DWP fit for work programs.
That's right DSLR. Mate and his partner of one of my sons is going to Italy next week. Paid for the holiday at a really good rate and would lose their dosh if they cancelled, unless the Government advises Brits not to travel. He and she are OK with self isolation bit on their return if it comes to that, because they are both fortunate enough to be self employed.
There's nothing sensationalised about that at all. The expert was telling everyone the worst case scenario, which is that 80% of the population could become infected. The important word is 'could' and it's in the headline.
I don't understand the bottled water thing either. Surely people aren't thinking the virus is in the water supply.
I know its factually correct and has the word could in the sentence. But that's not how all people interrupt it and they don't all read the full article. It was clickbait and it doesn't help and I would like the BBC to above it that's all in was saying. I know the same people would still be panicking.
The one I don't get is the hand wash/sanitiser thing. If you have stock piled it all then others can't use any the virus will spread.
The government have advised not to travel to the areas concerned in Italy. This is mainly in the north though so let's hope they are heading south
I nearly knocked over a bloke today who had left the local Spar garage in Lawnswood, Leeds, clutching what I can only guess was about 20 bog rolls. He then fell & they rolled everywhere & traffic in a 40pmh road was brought to a standstill. I think we have a great year ahead, relegation, Brexit no deal, imminent death, or just a really bad recession & more social unrest.
Our spaff gibbon of a PM has just asked people to act responsibly.....my ******* sides! Oxbridge born to rule upbringing bet he's never said or heard that in his life..
I wish this f*cking government would act responsibly. No steps to screen people coming back from Northern Italy - an area that is under lockdown for Italians - just a request to people to self isolate Lying about working with Supermarkets to ensure food supplies ( though to be fair Brexit is more likely to screw those than the virus) saying we are still in containment when we have currently over 300 known cases (and an incubation of 1-2 weeks ) - 2 weeks ago Italy had the same number of cases as we have now so its likely we have now several thousand people with the disease I saw a thread on Twitter asking which politicians you would want in charge of this type of emergency and almost everyone said any previous government over the last 40 to 50 years but this one. Gordon Browns probably being favourite - Boris has no idea how to deal with a crisis that he hasnt manufactured and its a bit of a concern
Basically sounds like government planning for everyone to be off in 10-14 days for a week. Anyone with signs of respiratory illness should stay home. So common colds, spring hayfever and other allergy related issues which are extremely common would fall into this bracket. Who's going to sign the sick notes and man the phones for the wonderful universal credit?
I think its entirely possible that government policy is just to the let virus spread and be done with it. Of course they would never say this but as you say no efforts have been made to stop the spread so far as I can see.
