So far so good - The Conditional wins despite ploughing into the second last. Cornerstone Lad and Beakstown left for me today.
I got a tip last night to put a few quid on Put the kettle on. I did and at 16/1 I'm glad that I did.
Great win for Epatante - she could be called the winner before they turned for home. As we thought before, the quality of the field probably limits the rating we could put on her win, but no doubting the mare's superiority and she was well prepared and well ridden. A welcome 69th birthday present for owner JP McManus. Vinndication ran well and Galvin was unlucky to suffer substantial interference early on. The ride of the day was surely Rachael Blackmore on Honeysuckle. Very quick thinking to nip up the inner on the turn for home. She is not a very good female jockey - she is just a very good jockey. Defi Du Seuil should win but is now an unbackable price. Paul Nicholls has been quite bullish about Dynamite Dollars who is still available at 15/2, so to very small stakes that would be a bet for interest.
I owe you a drink if I ever meet you-up over x3.5 on my stakes following your tips. Amazing thank you
What a load of bolllox that race was! 15.30. Defi du seuil!!!! Got to be biggest fiddle I’ve ever seen. £20k yes £20k!!! That would have won me!! Only horse to let me darn on a 7 fold!
Feel for you GTR. Not many saw Politologue as a real threat to Defi du Seuil. Cheltenham Festival: Politologue wins Champion Chase https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/horse-racing/51838577
Well, what a day! Let's deal with Defi De Seuil first. On ratings and performances he wasn't that far ahead of the Nicholls duo so 2/5 looked woefully short to me. Once Chacun Pour Soi was out I resolved to take him on to miniscule stakes with Dynamite Dollars. I assumed that Harry Cobden would have had the pick of the Nicholls duo but it transpired that Politologue's owner John Hales had asked for Harry Skelton to ride. Hales goes way back with the Skelton family, being a part sponsor of some of their showjumpers, and he had good links with Dan Skelton (Nicholls' former assistant) and Harry, who was a conditional rider at Ditcheat before Dan took out a trainer's licence. So Politologue, who Nicholls talked up earlier in the season, proved the one to be on! Envoi Allen was awesome in the opener, and travelled like the winner under a supremely confident Davy Russell. Champ was something else! A very dramatic finish when Allaho and Minella Indo stopped to a walk up the run-in and Champ stayed on to overhaul them in unlikely circumstances. He wasn't winning that until the last ten yards. Tiger Roll didn't like the ground in the cross country, but still ran a terrific prep race for his historic attempt at a third consecutive Grand National. Today did nothing to diminish his chances at Aintree - provided the ground doesn't come up too soft. Aramax was a very comfortable winner. Gordon Elliot had described him as "not a bad horse" after his last victory in Ireland. Master of under-statement or what? Willie Mullins finally hit the board in the Bumper, but with his supposed second string. Onwards and upwards! Cheltenham Day One 1 win from 7 (2/1) -4 points Cheltenham DayTwo 4 wins from 6 (4/7, 4/1, 5/1, 15/2) and one non-runner +15 points (Cumulative: +11 points) Cheltenham Day Three 1.30 Faugheen 2.10 Welsh Saint 2.50 Min 3.30 Paisley Park 4.10 Siruh Du Lac 4.50 Floressa 5.30 Champagne Platinum
1.30 Samcro/ Faugheen/ Mr Fisher 2.10 Storyteller/ Welsh Saint/ Skandiburg 2.50 Min 3.30 Summerville Boy/ Apple's Jade 4.10 La Bague Au Roi/ Oldgrangewood 4.50 Minella Melody/ Concertista 5.30 Champagne Platinum/ Fitzhenry/ Deisse Alba/ Cloth Cap.
I backed Politologue when it won at Aintree and believe me I was kicking myself. Defi du Seuil was second hotpot to let me down this week after Benie Des Dieux.
