I'm set to lose out on hundreds here on football alone. Got trains booked for our game Saturday for 7 of us.
Also trains and accommodation for the two England games at the end of this month, and trains for Luton and Brentford.

I wonder if the thousands up and down the country like me will be compensated if all games are cancelled? if not I cant see playing behind closed doors would make much of a difference as a lot of people will just travel and have a day out anyway, I mean for the remainder of the season everything will be paid by those that travel.

I get that some would have the mentality of 'tough', in perspective football is nothing during a crisis like this and I would agree to some extent, but it is a decent amount of money lots are going to lose out on. I personally would be missing out on hundreds if just the Barnsley games got played behind closed doors, if the Euros is off I could lose out on over a thousand.

Yes, a lot of people could lose a lot of money. Some will lose their jobs - at least temporarily - some will lose out on money they have already spent. But imagine how bad you'd feel if you come down with the virus after traveling and could have potentially affected (and even killed) other people.

Good. We might actually get an EFL ruling on Derby and Washday before the season recommences.

Danish FA have announced that they are expecting the friendly against England on 31 March to be cancelled.

There will be much greater financial concerns than football fans. There's next to no chance of you getting compensated for anything other than the match tickets.

I get your point, and I certainly wouldn't travel anywhere if I knew I had it or even if I felt unwell. However, it wouldn't stop people travelling and having a day out if things are already paid for, ill be honest with you as things currently stand I will still be making the journey down to London Saturday (unless government advice otherwise) and having a day out with my mates in the capital, id imagine thousands of other will be too.

Now if later were told not to use public transport or make non-essential journeys then obviously I wont, however it would be interesting to see if these transport companies would compensate everyone.

No I understand that, were all going to be affected some way or another, obviously most will have more severe consequences than myself and my heart goes out to every single one of them.

But I'm trying to focus on the football side of things.

PSG played Dortmund behind closed doors last night, but thousands of fans turned up outside the ground to celebrate the win. Kind of defeated the object really. Education will be the key in this process

I think under the next phase things will come to a stand still as they are advising people with just a cough to self isolate now.

I'm the same. I'm supposed to be playing football in Sweden at the end of the month, (approx. £350 spent so far), and Mallorca in May (again around £350). I'll be hugely disappointed if it's off, but part of me is wishing that the Government would make some decisions. However, I'm more concerned about my daughter's GCSEs. I can cope with restriction of movement, not going to matches, concerts etc, what will the plan be for thousands of kids if they can't sit their exams?
Obviously everyone's safety and health and wellbeing is far more important, but it's a worrying time aside from the health risks.

We have 2 trips to Dusseldorf booked for next month and it's looking like both games will be behind closed doors....the game against Schalke on the 5th is the one earmarked for the ukfortuna fan club annual p155 up so quite a few lads and lasses were/are going over. We will all follow government advice about travel but at the minute there isn't any. If travel is banned at least we would get our flight money back (insurance excess and cheapish flights mean it's hardly worth claiming) but not sure about hotel. Eurowings, who we fly with, are offering free rebooking as a gesture of goodwill, if rebooked before end of April /travel date so might not be totally out of pocket.

All this means nothing though so long as we stay healthy and don't endanger anyone else. I know what it's like when things go wrong from when our lass was taken seriously ill when we were in Berlin last year (septic shock and pneumonia and in hospital for 2 weeks...we were supposed to be there for 3 nights) and I'm not keen on repeating the experience.

Sensible thing to do. I think this virus has been grossly underestimated and there are concerns of it mutating. Unfortunately, I can't see our government closing schools etc, maybe just ones in infected areas. Our approach is quite clearly carry on as normal but try and treat best we can if/when you catch it.

Just how many people constitute a "large" gathering and how will they check any that go ahead?

What if you’ve got a bit of cold, would you still travel?
