She thinks - but she can’t get tested to prove it, because there’s nowhere to go to get tested.
Government advice seems to be “lock yourself up and die, or if you can manage it - survive”.
There’s a league table of cases in this morning’s paper and we are a very creditable 10th behind Switzerland and just above Norway. Thing is they’re testing and we aren’t so how many cases are there out there? One in my family so far.
How many others on this board know someone who has it?

Problem is as you rightly point out there is no way to get tested unless you can get admitted to hospital - and by then you are already in a fairly serious condition - compare with South Korea where they test anyone who could have it even when they dont think it is - they can test 20000 per day and get results back in 6 hours and appear to be getting the outbreak under control
We are so far away from that its scary. No one thinks not testing is a good idea so why aren't we doing it

If everyone with symptoms rushes off to be tested then those doing the testing will be swamped. I think thats why the advice is to self isolate for 7 days as it could just be cold or flu, if the symptoms persist or get worse then dial 111 for further advice. Don't go to your GP and put them at risk. Hope she’s ok.

Dismissing "just a cough" too as mild symptoms and asking people to return to work when they haven't even been diagnosed. It's madness.

I'm sure I have it. Went to a political party meeting about 10 days ago where one guy (who travels regularly) was coughing severely. On Thursday I started with the cough, fever, chills, aches, etc. Worse than any flu I've had, and I have asthma so I'm high risk. I tried to get tested but they refused - only testing those who are being admitted to hospital at the moment, so I'm just laid up at home feeling extremely rough.

Oh dear - I hope you can recover fairly quickly whether its C19 or or just an ordinary flu type thing did they tell you what to do if it gets worse?

Sorry to hear that GR. Sincerely hope everything turns out OK for you. Looking at the various news
bulletins this morning, it certainly does seem to be getting hold in a number of towns in the Yorkshire
    area now.

I've had a decent proportion of my workforce off this week because they've got coughs and/or fevers. I've got no idea whether they've got it or not, but am telling them to stay home to be on the safe side. Can't shake the worrying guilt about possibly being a vector in this whole mess, but because no testing is available they'll all be back within the week because we all need to keep working and trading.

111 or 999 depending on severity. I'm mostly worried because the day before I started getting symptoms I went to see my elderly grandad (not a wise move in hindsight) who's in and out of hospital with pneumonia all the time, has had a cancerous brain tumour removed and suffers with diabetes. It's about as high risk as you can get. Worried about what I've exposed him to even if it's not COVID.

Oh no - I can see why that would be a real worry for you. This whole thing really is a nightmare isn't it - My Mum is not well at all and well into her 80's and I darent go and see her for Mothers day as I have had a cough for weeks and it got a bit worse last week and I have definitely felt worse but nothing like you describe - I dont think I have it but I know symptoms vary and don't think I can risk going - really hope your grandad is OK

How does your cough feel? For me it's really dry the majority of the time to the point where my throat is killing me, but sometimes I'll cough up an extremely thick brown mucus. It's made me worried about secondary bacterial infection but guess what - nobody will see me!

Next door flat has been diagnosed in France, (Paris) was not tested though. Is self isolating now, but hasn't been for 4 days. He's just over 70 & a heavy smoker. Was not questioned about it at the airport. It's clear we are doing f-all to stop people from the UK returning from overseas bringing it back with them.

Those are the symptoms according to this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51048366 and what's the Tory policy on this - lock yourself up and hope it goes away - what a f***ing disgrace this government is.
