I may have been negligent in reading the small print but I've never seen clauses for business interruption in any policies that I've ever held. My dad had a small engineering business in the 1980's and had to just shut during the miner's strike.
Yes - the Conservative party is the one that protects people with capital and assets. That's not a surprise - it's what they stand for. Their rationale would be that these are the source of employment. Why do you assume that they will not be sympathetic to people who are finding difficulty? To shower money indiscriminately would not spend it where it will do most good, and encourage a minority to take advantage of handouts. There should be enough for everyone's need, but I'm afraid there will be some people with their hands out because of greed. Many people don't save for the future, spend their money on booze and cigarettes and gambling and take-aways, and then start bleating that they can't cope....why encourage the feckless?
Get your head out of the daily mails ar*e for a minute. Benefit fraud 3 billion, tax fraud 30 billion. but yes its all the fault of the feckless. I assume they wont be sympathetic to people who are in difficulty because this is the tory party. this is the party who champion universal credit despite placing many people.... "who are in difficulty" in further difficulty. i need no more information than that.
Oppositions disagree with the Government of the day no matter what colour they represent. Tha just a Corbyn hater and will no doubt hate whoever replaces him as Labour leader.
With the greatest respect in normal circumstances, I would totally agree you are correct but in this instance about this subject only and in the current circumstances I disagree ALL parties should be working together and supporting the plan that the government in power is delivering. Criticism and influence should be kept for behind the scenes. We can look back afterwards and reflect and hopefully learn but what the country does not need is a fractured approach. All IMO of course.
The country is fractured and when Corbyn mentioned why COBRA wasn`t being actioned Boris made light of it saying it was just a room, then calling his COBRA meeting a few days later. Not just the opposition not coming together here is it. Teks 2 to tango and if he was interested in parties coming together for the greater good he would have called on other party leaders to come forth and brainstorm if thats the right word, ala May.
Yet you're the one making comments about my user name.... *shrug* I don't have time for this, it's all a bit sad. Best wishes.
Dog eat dog is simply not true. Humanity is an endlessly maliable species. We're moulded by social rules and political systems, most often created through centuries of combined histories. What's always true is that the ruling class, that it is the political class and those who own the means to production are the ones deciding the rules. Some good, some bad, some indifferent. For a long time we've been ruled by an economic system that puts profit over people. That's how it works. It's designed to make the masses work for a wage, whilst small numbers of the elite make massive profits. Regardless of your views on this, it's beyond debate and is there for all to see. Out of time for the rest. I've got to be back to work....
A very eloquent response. However, you write as though there is some system, or plan at work. The economy is not devised by some sort of ruling elite or group of people. It's about human nature not about rules and systems. The profit motive is certainly at work, and the desire to have more than the next person, in other words a socially competitive nature. You only have to look at what's happening in supermarkets to have to agree with the dog eat dog philosophy. It is unfortunately very true.
you've made absolutely no argument other an assumption. the information is right there in front of you yet you accuse other of prejudice. i really do despair sometimes.
Don't despair. I don't read the Daily Mail. I suspect you are a Guardian reader - it would explain a lot about your prejudices.
My own view on this is that history will judge the effectiveness of the government’s response to this crisis. At this moment, while we are approaching it and in it we can’t judge the response. Therefore I wouldn’t be trumpeting BoJos success at this time. The ultimate measure will be in the body count and the economy. On balance, if I was expecting compassion from my government I would prefer a labour prime minister (Brown rather than Corbyn), but we’ve got what we’ve got.
again ,youve not actually said anything to back up your original assertion. should we be surprised............
We are currently hoping to have a death rate from COVID-19 of under 20,000. Making it roughly 120x more deadly in the UK than China. I would expect resignations for that - at the very least.
