The major supermarkets are stepping up their delivery operations, (one member of staff at Asda has said that there is a possibility of delivery only services in the next few weeks). Upshot is all supermarkets likely to be looking for temporary staff to cover stock control, order preparation and delivery. Expect adverts to be out in next few days. Applies to Aldi, Morrisons. Asda and Sainsburys.
I can't help but wonder what the long term effects of this will be on supermarkets. More people will surely start buying online (elder people in particular might finally take the plunge) - wonder if it will get to the point that it becomes a habit and some of those people never return to the supermarkets. Will certainly be interesting to see. Could also have huge effects on the new Market in town
Agreed. I reckon on a 5% minimum increase in the basic rate of tax. The world has been trashed. We'll have to suck it up for a few years.
Asda are closing all their asda living stores and the smaller local stores, like the one in worsborough for the forseeable so they can divert all available stock to the main supermarkets. Any staff from the stores are being sent to the main stores to provide additional help on the shop floor.
Trade deal negotiations 'll be pushed back enall, so we'll be EU aligned well beyond December 31st 2020.
