I don’t know Helen. I heard not guilty but it might equally be Not Proven but I hope it was the former.
Now I would want those females who fabricated those stories against him to be named and shamed. Trying to ruin a man’s life like that is inexcusable.
Not guilty on twelve charges and not proven on the charge of sexual assault with intent to rape. Alex Salmond cleared of all sexual assault charges https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-52004285
I'll ask the question I always do when these things come to trial - how do they actually convict these people for 'historic' cases of assault, abuse etc..? Without actual proof, does it just boil down to one word against the other? Genuine question...
Well Helen their different take did not stand up in court. Apparently one sexual charge was he sucked a woman’s toe. Did the Royal Fergie no have a liking for that?
How's that relevant? Are you saying the fact that one woman likes having her toe sucked gives men a general licence to do it?
Really? Do you really think so many women would try to ruin a man just for political reasons? If they have then they deserve to be prosecuted but I think at this stage it is could be irresponsible to make this into a political issue. I think false accusations of rape or sexual assault are abhorrent but women must be believed if we want more cases being brought to trial. I find it hard to believe that so many women would be so willing to end a mans career and reputation just because they don't agree with him politically. This doesn't mean that they haven't, just that trying to score political points at this stage is irresponsible.
No I’m not saying that at all. But that was how trivial some of the charges he was facing. Hardly rape was it.
It's beyond reasonable doubt, so it ultimately boils down to who's most compelling and able to provide witnesses and evidence. Balance of probabilities under civil law is a whole different ball game though. The prosecution made it clear that he had a certain kind of M.O, and all women involved described similar traits. The court found him not guilty so therefore was there a conspiracy and have those involved provided false testimony? Clear as mud!
I wasn't questioning the verdict, I was questioning your assertion that the motivation for the allegations were political.
Ok sorry. Well it’s well believed here that dark forces from within Westminster and the English establishment will stop at nothing to discredit the SNP and its members. A lot will come out in next few months Remember any government that can orchestrate the death of an unwanted royal without any repercussions is a government that will do anything to help preserve the continuation of the United Kingdom
They say its a fabrication for political purposes but surely it can't be easy to find so many women to perjur themselves, if it was a set up I would have thought getting say 2 well briefed would have been the most likely way. Sounds more like a perennial sex pest, though tbh I'd have found him guilt just for being Alex Salmond!
as would a few others mate. Tbh initially I thought this does not look good for him and the best he could have hoped for was a not proven verdict seeing as most offences were allegedly done in private with no witnesses
