They will be judged on their actions when this is over and if South Korea come out of this lightly because of their actions they took from advice from the same scientists that were warning at the time . Fair enough not a lot of govts were taking it as seriously as SK but we’ll want to know why when this is over imo.
Thought this myself at the minute public opinion is fully behind the lockdown so it will to a extent police itself. We haven't even done a week yet though. 3 months is a long time. With no end in sight I think over time we will see more and more people flouting the rules. The economic fall out to this is beyond my comprehension.
You keep bringing up suicide ST and I'm sure you're right and some will sadly resort to that. I'm not minimising that at all, especially as our family has seen it first hand in the last 18 months. However, the loss of life if we don't lock down properly is going to dwarf that of suicide. You talk about businesses closing and again you're right. How many businesses are going to collapse if they remain open and their owners contract covid? There are no palatable solutions. The one we're currently pursuing, finally, is, in my opinion, the one that will save far more lives, destroy far fewer families and get us through this in the least bad way.
