Liked the Mcgeehan bit, really sorry to hear about your business. I wish I could say something comforting but I'm not sure there is anything.
A crippled NHS and a working class about to get f*cked by the c*nt they were deceived into electing. But you know, at least it's not that Corbyn bloke, yeah?
There is nothing that be said re the business, other than 3 weeks ago it was good. Now I'm up **** creek.
If you don't mind me asking does the government support package help you at all? Even if it just on a personal level with your finances.
Not at all. £94.25 a week won't cover anything like my rent, service charge, storage costs for my business, before I get to internet / phone, etc. Thought I'd be helped, but sweet FA.
Just watching good morning britain, an expert from the vaccine think tank, stated that although there are no guarantees, they were pleased with the way the research was going and were hopeful they would have something to stop the virus, by the end of this year.
Have none of the latest measures announced helped then. Just a few days ago you seemed cautiously optimistic when they announced help for SE people based on tax returns and profits. I have no idea of the details or personal circumstances but many of your posts suggest you were running an established and successful business and employing others- just teh sort of business that needs the cash injection. What restrictions are preventing you from claiming (if you don't mind me asking a personal question like that)? I do have huge sympathy as for a number of years in a former Iife I worked as a pro muso and also know quite a lot of professional actors. Both groups (and nowadays that includes pro DJs), for the vast majority excluding those who 'make it big' and live in a bubble , always lived a week by week pretty much hand-to-mouth existence with little chance of putting much away for a rainy day. My daughter works in the gaming industry and one of her many roles is arranging talent for recording sessions for multi million pound projects and she is responsible for sorting agents fees, hotels flights accomodation and studio time in hotspots like London, NY etc. All of which is disrupted and release dates are slipping with the inevitable hit on increased costs and profits. Don't know what I can say other than sorry for your situation although 'tea and sympathy' does not pay the bills. Stay safe!
You have my sympathy (I know its meaningless) really have left a lot of people behind with the "support"
The government's support hasn't gone far enough, this was made clear by John McDonnell ( boooooo! communist! Corbyn's a terrorist!). Not all workers and business owners are getting access to the funds promised and now the cabinet are disappearing into self isolation. The whole handling of this crisis isn't good enough. Folk keep saying they're doing a great job at a difficult time. They knew it was coming months ago, the NHS struggling, 2 doctors dead and counting. Business and employees missing out on funds due to government mismanagement. Companies still not adhering to public health instructions (ASOS). Boils my piss! Similar things happening inside certain government departments with form for poor management.
Looking at data and trends from other countries, my prediction is that we'll 'peak' at some point next week, as Spain are doing now and Italy already have. Once we're confident of a downward trajectory in new cases, the lockdown will be lifted slightly c. 1st May and monitored thereafter. Some social distancing measures still in place until September when we'll be able to return to 'normal life' completely (what's left of it). Where sport and our beloved Barnsley FC fixtures fit into all that I don't know
These are the latest national stats for everything..... https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths 1,487 on average passed away in the UK per day in 2018. In a few years when 2020 stats are released it will be interesting to see if it will rise due to Covid 19 or have decreased because of less cars on the road and other things.
I can’t see football returning as normal even by September. Maybe games played behind closed doors and fans paying a subscription to watch online....? All guess work really as no one knows how this will play out.
It will also be interesting to see the stats for deaths in the months and years following this from unrelated deaths caused by the situation enforced on us
Road deaths will be down, pollution related also. Probably a small decrease in heart attacks and transmittable illnesses (flu, norovirus) Suicides will increase, as will domestic violence, and COVID deaths obviously.
I've been told that if you operate through a limited company the scheme does not apply. This is only second hand, but when I eventually got through to the helpline they wouldn't say one way or the other, just that if I'm eligible HMRC will contact me by June.
