Remember my first pint as a Student in a pub near the Halls of residence in Liverpool and being charged 60p for a pint of Harp - probably my first "Ar Much" in a pub - that would have been October 1981

It was shut last time I was there. The Cross Keys was still open, it was always the better of the two. Sadly my old favourite haunt The Halfway at Highgate was demolished several years ago. A significant fraction of my youth was misspent there.... Bolton Club has also gone, but Highgate Club is still there.

Sure it weren’t two bob? I can remember in sixties in local WMC mi dad complained cos it went up from 1s:10d to 1s:11d saying nearly two bob a pint is ridiculous . We laugh about that now lol.
