Award Liverpool F.C. the title then void it - after all it's only entertainment and pretty much every other entertainment business has been shut down until further notice unless it can be practiced safely. (I use "entertainment" loosely in our case this season). Practicing social isolation while playing football is neigh on impossible I would say, though some aspects of this come close
Some years many times that amount yes. But this is the interesting moral point isn't it. It's ok for some people to die and society just accept it but at a certain number it becomes "too many"
For me they have to wait until it's safe again. No rushing to finish now. Once it's safe and we can all mingle again then the right thing to do is continue where we left off
In a day from flu? Twas ever thus - civilised society attempts to minimise unnecessary deaths. Do I really see that it's worth shutting down the M1 and spending a quarter of a million £'s to save the life of a speeding motorist? What's the alternative; do we just deploy a street sweeper to remove him from the carriageway into the gutter? When a teenager enters a school and shoots 20 kids; is it an appropriate response to say 'they were going to die anyway'?
fking hell are you for real? Football a Fking hell are you for real, sport is good, but its not worth the unnecessary loss of anybody's life ! Look at the Premiere leagues reaction so far, furlough the non playing staff but pay the obscene amount to the players who wouldn't feel it. If they did play in these 'special ' conditions I wonder who would be the folk at the thin end of the wedge where conditions weren't quite as good.
Ah I didn't realise you meant in a day I wasn't paying attention. Let's hope we don't get anywhere near the figure of 1500 a day dying from coronavirus
241 flu deaths this winter 381 Covid 19 YESTERDAY I’d guess tomorrow’s number will make you wish it was only 300+ And this time next week you’ll be possibly be wishing it was still under 1000
But nearly 400 other people died too from an illness that hasn't existed in this form before. Today another extra few hundred people will die and the next day. Amongst those extra few hundred people will be people who have had to continue working. People in healthcare, food distribution etc who have had to put themselves at increased risk.
But it's safe for untested workers to pick and despatch party clothing from a warehouse in Grimethorpe - and safe for folk to mill around a supermarket to buy essentials.... and safe for a copper to pull me over and breath in my window - and safe for construction workers ...... need I go on. It's not a question of safety - these players and managers / coaches etc could be tested - and then play quite safely. the numbers are relatively small. I reckon 5,000 people total could get the job done and given the money in football it's not an onerous expense It's a question of the optics. is it better for the countries morale to put a few sporting events on - or is it better to demonstrate lock down- and not give the idiots the excuse of "well if footballers can then why can't I" I have to believe it's the latter.
Think it’s more that people will gather at unofficial areas to watch or just be together . There were games played behind closed doors but crowds still gathered outside and that’s one of the reasons they were halted .
That's the thing. On one hand I say if football fan pay the money to have everyone tested then fair enough. On the other it's obvious that there are currently only so many testing kits available and if any are being produced they shouldn't go to the highest bidder but to the most needy
