why are the media scaring the s h i t out of people by announcing only how many new cases have been reported and how many deaths.... why do they not report on how many have come through it and survived.... that statistic is quite large and far out weighs the death statistic.

I think there should be a total deaths on day including corona and all other causes for balance, the way the media portray it all other deaths do not exist, they are victims of corona too,not being able to have a proper funeral

Actually the official 'number recovered' is tiny, 135 total.

Obviously this isn't true, PHE haven't released this updated statistic for around a week now. 135 is the only UK number that could be reported officially though at this time.

I don't know whether this is because they're not testing people that have recovered, to officially clear them, or if PHE are just not releasing the data.

I'd imagine in reality plenty have recovered for example we are told to self isolate if we have symptoms. 99% of the people self isolating for 2 week with symptoms wont get tested but will recover so wont be on the statistic.

It's a fine line, a balancing act. On the one hand, you don't want make people panic, but at the same time, you can't afford to let complacency creep in. I'm not convinced that "green shoots" was the best phrase to use yesterday. Seems too early for that IMHO.

Interesting that one newspaper went with that as today's headline while another went to the opposite end of the spectrum and headlined the death of a 13 year old. Personally I'd prefer to see a middle ground... urging us to stay calm, but focused.

I understand that they don’t then retest someone who is positive and therefore just don’t know how many have recovered.

Would that include the Prime Minister, Health Minister, Chief Science Adviser, Chief Medical Officer and Special Adviser to the PM - who all came down with it this week?
