Booked flights in December to fly in 3 weeks at the cost of £1300, just called Carlton Leisure to get a refund and that's fine they said, but there's a £150 admin fee cos I bought them at a promotional rate, it was in their T&C's apparently and they sent it at point of booking. I have 2 emails from them, neither of which mention this fee. They say if I rebook or keep the payment on hold as a credit with them there will be no fee. They were adamant they would not refund the whole amount. Scum of the earth, can't see this is legal,so where do I stand?
Gonna go thru Barclays VISA who it was booked thru, failing that then travel insurance. They are even saying if I accept the reduced refund, they'll take up to 12 weeks to issue it!
Anyone who encounters shysters like these, keep pushing back, they rely on folk giving in. They are now saying as a further gesture of goodwill they'll only charge me £50! I will get the lot back. Thing is, I used them before and would have again. Never again. Cowboys.
Seriously pal keep fighting them. I hope you get a full refund. Hopefully people on here will remember them and never use them again!
This. I use my Amex for all large purchases for this reason, they will refund no questions asked, then reverse the refund after if it needs to be. A bonus is the air miles, too. I think I have enough now to travel around the world 30 times. My retirement fund.
If the flights have been cancelled, you are entitled to a full refund. That's the rules. Don't accept anything less.
According to trip advisor, a travel agent is entitled to apply an admin fee(if in their t&c). The reasons for this being that they did not cancel the flights and they incurred costs to book the flight, so if they give a full refund they would be out of pocket. It also says the full refund from Airlines is only applicable if you book direct. Having said that, I would be pissed too due to the extenuating circumstances and would keep pushing.
