I know so we couldn't fuss him unfortunately. I'm going to presume that the chance of Laddie's owners having it and transferring it onto his fur and then him passing it onto Lydia and then us getting it from her is miniscule though.

All manner of theories circulating as to how the Government could force those who are currently
flouting their advice, could be brought into line with those who are adhering to it.

Banning outdoor excercise and closing parks are two of the options being advanced, but I've
not seen anything about shopping for food and provisions. One suggestion I've heard put forward,
is that every household would be issued with an identity card bearing your postcode.

You would then only be allowed to shop within a one mile radius of said postcode. If the police stopped
you and found that you were in contravention of that ruling, or you were unable to produce your card, they
would then be at liberty to impose an on the spot fine or if serious enough, some other form of punishment.
    Anybody else heard anything different.?

For all the press stories of people not doing as they are told, many more people are behaving and doing the right thing. I have never seen outside Magpie Cafe so quiet :)

One of my all time favourites Whitby. Spent many happy caravan holidays there as a kid and my wife and
myself always have a full day there whenever we stay at the Bay at Filey. We always have a meal in
Trenchers over the road from the Supermarket where we usually park. Used to enjoy eating fish and chips
out of a tray sitting near the bandstand, but the seagulls kept dive bombing us and other sightseers so we
    stopped doing that.

What happens if you don't live within a one mile radius of a shop that sells anything other than bread and milk or is very expensive...

I live a ~1km walk from Morrisons, but its nearer 2 miles by car to the nearest Tescos. Lots of people are less fortunate.

Good point Scoff. I guess they would have to allow some exceptions. For instance, those living in isolated
premises, similar to sheep farmers and the like, in the wilds of North Yorkshire.

It isn't just isolated communities. Just look at Barnsley. Unless you're lucky enough to live within a mile of Tesco, Asda, Morrisons or Aldi it's just not doable.
The closest shop to me is a McColl's. Why (and how) should I be expected to pay double for my food than someone who lives near Tesco? I'm not exaggerating either, quite a lot of the food is at least double. I genuinely can't afford to shop there.

What they should have done is had plans in place in advance after all the warnings they've been given over the last 20 years is plan a nationwide network of outlets that give out essential food supplies at a fixed price. I'd have it staffed by the army too

That's what I do. TBH when i walk the dogs from Adel / West Park in Leeds there are massive wide pavements with green verges, so it's easy to keep safe distance. I then take them to some woods, where there are a multitude of paths to avoid contact with others. If I was walking them from my house in Headingley it would be harder, as there are busy roads & narrow pavements, I cycle the 2 miles to the house where I pick them up. I've checked if this is OK with my MP & he says it's OK. Being sensible I can't see me being stopped, but the email is on my phone, if I were challenged about it I'd politely show it to an officer of the law. He says, if you live in a crowded area a short drive is fine to a quiet space, although all park car parks are closed to discourage this, so sensible road parking would be required.

Luckily the dogs I walk are trained not to go up to other people (by me as it happens). I sanitise my hands before touching them to put on or take off collars. There isn't a lot of proof that it can live on dog fur, but better to be safe.

well thats a stupid idea loads of people live more than 1 mile away from shops - I am fortunate in that there is a costcutter Butchers Bakers and Chemist within 1 mile but there are no supermarkets in that distance if I lived at the far end of the road that my lane is off or in the next village I would have no legal access to a chemist butchers or bakers - just a small general store and quite a lot of villages dont even have one of those these days.
Also are you suggesting that it is made illegal to walk a dog - we need to find ways to ensure people follow the existing rules not make them impossible to follow

Lydia wouldn't go up to others but there's no way her and Laddie (one of the other advanced training dogs of which there are 5 who normally spend almost all day together at the centre) would keep apart when they are both on free runs, nor would I want them to. She's finding this all a bit stressful at the minute so to see her happy with him was the best thing ever.

I'm not sure there is massive evidence of transmission between dogs, there is tenuous evidence it may be passed to humans via their coats, so not being petted by unsanitised outsiders seem the greater risk to me. If they are within a household I cannot see any greater issue than a household of humans. Most responsible dog people are taking all available precautions as far as I can see.

No point in worrying all these possible ways you might get it.
We are all going to get it at sometime anyway so why worry.

We have always been at war with Eurasia. Big brother is just a few pen strokes away, and the funniest thing is that it’s being cheered on, because a few idiots are ignoring current rules. Laws based on the extreme are generally bad laws, better to police existing restrictions if needed. We may soon get enough anti-body studies done to come up with an informed strategy, until then it will become harder and harder to justify house arrest for 60 million people based on a model.
