Watched Keane v Viera on ITV. Believe it was originally shown around three years ago.? Well worth a watch. Two fiercely competitive players who in their day, absolutely detested each other, but came together out of total respect for their respective character and attributes as captains and players in two of footballs all time great teams re- Manchester United and Arsenal, to make the show. Collaborated in selecting a joint best eleven taken from their respective Clubs. Pleased to hear Roy admit his regret in not playing in the World Cup, following his very public spat with Mick McCarthy. Surprised that after seemingly undermining Sir Alec when he publicly criticised his team mates after a 4-0 loss against Middlesbrough, he still hasn't made it up with his old boss and seems to really despise him after getting the push following his twelve years at the Club.
Roy Keane = his tackle on Haaland. No matter how good a player he was that is what sums him up for me. Unforgivable. Give me Viera, Bergkamp etc every time.
There’s a really good Q & A with him and Gary Neville, it’s available on YouTube, it’s definitely with a look,
Good program to watch, as Bossman says find the YouTube interviews where h8m and Gary Neville partake in a Q&A session, quite interesting & well worth a look.Makes it clear he still has a grudge against Ferguson
Vieira for me everyday - had more to his game than Keane. Both great players and brilliant captains though but if I had to pick one would be the Frenchman.
I didn't understand his comment "My job was to go out and hurt players, I didn't want to injure them". What? As for his relationship with Ferguson, they were both very similar characters and never destined to get on. What I would say is that if Viera and Keane had been in the same side it would have been one hell of a midfield.
Just watched it on catch up. Keane very reluctant to admit any mistakes, that Haaland tackle was pure retaliation and he should have regretted that. And I think Mccarthy was proved right with the way he managed Ireland as they did well in the World cup.
That's why it was so funny when his son decided to join Dortmund when United were so sure they had his signature. They put it down to not bowing to agent demands, but I think he just didn't want to join a club who has a legend who seriously injured his dad.
Cheers Bossman. Just finished watching the Q&A with Roy Keane and Gary Neville. Enjoyed it. I was really surprised at the vitriol Roy showed towards Fergie. Said he will never speak to him until David Gill and Fergie apologise to him over the way he left United. All I can say, is he's going to be waiting a long long time, as Fergie is as strong willed and uncompromising as he is.
