No new cases were recorded yesterday in Barnsley. Only 15 in Leeds and relatively few in the rest of Yorkshire. Clearly there's more people than that with it but since we're largely counting only hospital cases it seems we're moving in the right direction.
Move the graph back a few days. One is based on live data one is based in full data coming through a few days later I want to see a real set of stats where coronavirus is listed as the CAUSE of death rather than a frankly meaningless set of figures that just say people have traces of it in their system (using tests KNOWN to give false positives) when they died
Actions speak louder than words. The likes of Witty, Vallance and Harries keep repeating the same stuff and not saying much of note. The daily briefings tell us nothing. I hope everyone involved in this feel very responsible from all the deaths it's causing from lack of testing.
Wait a minute. You're the one claiming some kind of government cover up not me. All I've said is that the figures match up much more if you move the graph along to the time when the live and recorded data are in sync.
Disingenuous? I believe that whilst the figures are for 'people who have died in hospital having tested positive', only whacko conspiracy theorists are assuming that the figures include everyone who died in hospital who had a trace of it - my belief is that they're only being counted where it's appropriate (as has been verified by the govt). Maybe we should turn our cynicism to the actual hidden numbers... those that died at home. They're not being included - so whilst you might argue that we could possibly be including people who might have died from something else. I'd like to offer the known fact that we are definitely not counting some people who have definitely died of Covid-19 but were not in hospital.
The lack of testing is a national disgrace. It's taken until today for Hancock to cough in a roundabout politician way to ask for help with antibody testing. All we've had is world war 2 phrases and empty rhetoric. We've then got journalists like John Rentoul saying after this is over there really is no need for any form of investigation into the government's handling of the crisis.
‘Whacko conspiracy theorists’ like Professor Neil Ferguson who thinks that two thirds of attributed deaths would have occurred without the impact of Covid. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51979654
I agree. It should be pretty simple. Somebody dies. Why has that person died? That's the cause of death. By the way those who definitely died of covid-19 outside of hospitals. Have they been tested too? In Italy only 12% of those who died WITH covid 19 had covid 19 as the cause of death a week or so ago. That's a fact. You're a statistician. Wouldn't you want the accurate facts rather than the maybes, might have, it's more than likely's? Youve said it yourself, half information doesn't mean anything and sadly that's what we have. I know you don't like it when I mention flu but flu deaths are down and coronavirus deaths are (obviously) up. It's possible to have both those at the same time. Flu is a known killer. Is flu killing some of those with coronavirus? Statistically you'd have to say that yes it is unless coronavirus somehow makes it impossible to die from other life threatening illnesses. And the same can be said about many many different illnesses too. Cancer patients are dying of cancer after testing positive to covid-19 for example. I'm not claiming a conspiracy theory at all I know we report these figures simply because it's easier to get that information out quickly than it is to wait and get accurate information. But I personally think that reporting that somebody with a myriad of illnesses died 'after testing positive for covid-19' means absolutely nothing without context. Bad data is worse than no data. That's why antibody tests haven't been licenced for use.
Said this before - we're all gonna die. If you read the quote 'within the year' - pure conjecture, spun to add a facet for debate
From what I understand - they may not necessarily have been tested either before or after death - as in... we'll never know. It's really not as simple as you suggest, which is why - as I seem to be typing every week... all numbers need to be taken with their absolute description, no more and no less. It's the nearest you'll get to 'truth'
I known that. Which is why I take them with their absolute description. People who have died WITH coronavirus not OF coronavirus. The two mean different things but many refuse to accept that.
