Is not the question how many more people are dying per day/week than normal (pre Covid19) and are they from a group you wouldn't expect to die from a cold or flu? Eg fit forty year old against 90 year old cancer sufferer.

It was widely reported at the time. Although to be honest I feel I may have written the wrong percentage however it was around there. 12 or 18 i believe. But yes it was accepted that it was the truth. X amount of people died WITH coronavirus but coronavirus of was on the death certificate Inca minority of cases.

    I'm not a statistician - I'm a data analyst.

And the whole point of data is that it answers the specific point it describes - We don't have and never will have a more comprehensive set of data, I don't know why you think I believe half information 'doesn't mean anything' - you're sadly misunderstanding again.

The numbers mean exactly what the description says they mean - if you want to make up stories about what if's, what's missing or what they're miscounting, you're free to do so. But it will always be conjecture - you might as well try conjuring spirits for all the scientifically correct you'll be. :)

    Simple question Mr data analyst.
    Does the data released mean
A/. People who have died due to contracting covid-19
Or B/. People who have died that have tested positive for covid-19

Do you accept that A and B are different things?

You're getting pulled into the same hole as the person who tried to assert that the police knew for definite the attendance at Oakwell.

The Italians numbers would have caveats in exactly the same way ours do. Because life and death isn't that simple - what do you measure, people who would have lasted a week longer without Covid 19? a month? 6 months? a year? a day?

Of course they mean different things -
I believe I posted the description above

And it means exactly what it says it means, and you getting agitated about it is just slightly funny. You're looking for something that's not there.

That's what happens when you're currently getting well below the minimum wage and work for a company that is highly likely to cease trading for good putting your livelihood and home at risk and people are refusing to accept that with and of are different things and do not want to know the full facts that are needed to make accurate informed decisions.

I'll tell you now with certainly puts a lot more pressure on people to accept house arrest and the loss of society than of does.

I appreciate your issues, but looking for a non existent scapegoat won't help your wellbeing - in fact it's probably making things worse. :(

Get out and have some fresh air - there are opportunities driven by the situation as well as limitations. :D

The main point about most 'conspiracy theories' is that they're hung on the slimmest of reasons.

As a UK adult - do you genuinely believe that a Tory government has trashed the economy and is throwing millions of £s at people to not work is doing so for anything but a very strong reason?

Almost as bats as the current situation, is me sitting here defending a Tory government

No I genuinely believe they are doing what they think is best after public pressure forced a change of hand.

One key thing though is that I don't think they care one bit what it does to the quality of lives and health of the nation after this. They've shown for years that they do not care about things like that.

What do you do? - or what are you willing to do? Aldi, Tesco and other supermarkets were recruiting a week or so ago. Other companies are also recruiting. If you are worried about your house (and many are unfortunately), then take control of the situation and try to improve your situation. Worrying is just winding you up, so be positive and changes things so that you are more in control.

If you don't want to find another job *now* then do something creative to improve your prospects when you are ready. Or even just get out and get some exercise.

The situation at the moment is rubbish, but when life gives you lemons you can choose to make lemonade or you can sit down waiting for something to happen.

    That’s illogical.
Your first point suggests the government changed tack just to remain popular

then you go on to say they don’t care about the countries future (which would be unpopular).

seriously though, most of us have been in the **** in our lives, my business went bust and I nearly lost my house when my kids were young. I dug in and worked for peanuts because I’d rather work than not, 30 years later my income is ‘OK’ though some on here would still describe it as poor.

we just have to get on and do it whether it feels good at the time or not. There have been times I’ve held 3 jobs including a full time post.

The problem there is that the supermarkets are offering very very temporary work it isnt permanent and will end the moment this lockdown does.

When I say about my home etc I don't mean right now I'm not in any immediate danger or anything but if the lockdown exists much longer then my job will most definitely be gone

Year-on-year deaths have fallen by about 5% so far in 2020, but for the last week it was over 500 above the average for the last 5 years. This week will be higher.

Yes, it is temporary. But temporary could be 18 months, which will keep a roof over your head - or at least up-to-date with the mortgage and make it a lot longer before they can start repossession proceedings.

About 14 years ago I was made redundant out of the blue, I had to take a £10k+ pay cut to start work quickly and it left me with serious financial difficulties. Its only the last year that my credit rating has made it back above average. I would say if you think you might have a problem in the future, you need to have plans in place around it. Not saying jump now, but know what you will do if the worst does happen.

The Tory government is many things, but it's not stupid enough to ignore the national security issues that would arise from doing nothing in the face of an economy dropping like a stone in the space of a couple of weeks.

That's not to say what they've done is enough or that they can even predict 'what enough' actually is given so much uncertainty. But they certainly knew doing nothing wasn't an option, even for them.

That's exactly what SuperTyke was saying and you were calling him a conspiracy theorist for saying it.

I'm not surprised he's getting agitated. You speak to people like they're something you've stepped in.
