According to the papers EFL say footballers back in training 16th May,football resumes 6th June behind closed doors. We shall see
Read somewhere that Fa offering St George's park to Premier league clubs to train and games will all be played a Wembley- up to 4 games a day behind closed doors and televised
I can't see that being right. It would mean 140 miles from the training ground to the match every few days and would mean they'd be playing on a piece of mud after a few weeks. I could see them playing all the games at at George's park though, there's about 10 or 15 pitches there
Can't see there being much appetite for football over the summer. We might be facing 30,000 deaths by then so let's now have a kick-about just doesn't sit comfortably at all.
First time a London team plays there (or Manchester Utd) and 10000 turn up to stand outside it'll all be stopped.
I can’t see how they can until lockdown is lifted all around the world, given that all the oversees players have gone back home
It's pie in the sky nonsense from an industry that has lost all touch with reality and is desperately trying to clutch onto life amidst its death throws. All the money has gone, the whole thing is going to collapse and the closer they're getting to the inevitable the more ludicrous their suggestions. They're over.
That's slightly different though. That's just giving the use of Wembley so that teams would play at neutral venues (rather than neutral venue) Wembley and others.
Dont be silly pal every player and none playing person of every club in europe is going to be fit and well on exactly the same day. Then they are all playing in cloud cuckoo land.
I’ve seen the idea of being played in the Midlands banded about. This one I suspect is just about the FA trying to claw mo ey back from lost Internationals.
It's one of the plans being muted - there are several options. Playing the games at Wembley and or St George's is one of the choices - most of the press, majority of the tabloids ran with the Wembley option so the games could be televised as well. From a TV set up point of view in this scenario - Wembley would be the easier option as the facilities for TV coverage are better
Have to agree with your assessment. The EFL in particular is finished. Some of the richest PL clubs may survive until a vaccine is available and the virus gone, but most footballers will no longer have a team to play for. I would imagine our own owners will be looking to minimize their losses before bailing out.
