Surely they know enough by now to know how it spreads and they know how people work and live. It doesn't really matter what the current situation is, they simply just know what the plan is going forwards. If not what are they actually doing? Hancock and his mates aren't driving ambulances or working in hospitals. Other than financial planning and planning for opening the country back up what else can they actually be doing?
Could easily outline the strategy just with bo time frames on it. All through this I think our government seem very worried that they will lose the support of the people on the measures. They seem genuinely surprised people are following the regulations on the whole. Also think they are still playing it very political and not wanting to admit to any shortcomings in our ability as a country to deal with it. This is starting to play badly especially when we look across the channel and see the French PM been very open and treating the French public with respect. If you watch the daily briefings it does start to grate somewhat. "We are in this together"now watch is dodge every single question we get asked. Very much business as usual from a political standpoint.
This govts are fearful of the critics and what will eventually come out on the things they have done to the NHS . We were ill prepared for even a tenth of what is happening now . The people in charge of ministries were put there by a prime minister and his ADVISER to do one thing and that was to keep saying yes , they are not fit to be in charge of these ministries and it is showing . The Tory Party as a whole are preparing to oust some of these Cummings appointed yes men and I believe it is a requirement of cross party partnership. The first to go imo will be JRM , I don’t think there was ever a point to his selection as a minister other than a yes man .
Most of the other countries are telling the country the "rough plans", telling them what needs to happen and what the steps are. Also what could happen if the people don't behave - see Merkel's speech the other day with a small rise in infections pushing ICU capacity from November forward to July.
Although having been to the Deep South, one of the reasons why many southerners hoard their weapons is because they're convinced that there's still a strong chance of Washington attacking the Confederate States, and they want to be ready for it. Wibble, wubble, y'all need Jeeeezus.
I think this a pretty astute assessment of the situation. Certainly makes a nice change from the hysterical nonsense I've read elsewhere,
I'm not sure Macron is doing quite as well as all that...apparently he had a public row with a nurse recently, and this article makes interesting reading. https://www.vox.com/2020/4/14/21218927/coronavirus-covid-france-macron-response
Trump is now calling for his supporters in Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia to rebel against the lockdowns in those states imposing by the Democratic governors - including citing the 2nd Amendment (the Right to Bear Arms). What were we saying about a Civil War?
