Might not have compressed yet but for those who couldn't watch it live this was an absolute pleasure to be involved in. What a top class bloke!
People always talk about a lack of loyalty from footballers. How they're all greedy and force moves etc. Yet from all of these interviews the thing I'm taking away from it is that it's the club who has absolutely no loyalty to players and will gladly pay their loyal players much less than new prospects. I wonder what would happen if a player took a club to court about being paid less to do the same job
What I'm taking from it is that I prefer footy 20-30 years ago compared to what I do now. I miss the older players such as Hignett coming into the team and the excitement of what they're going to do.
Interesting the way he said he was influenced by his agent who didnt necessarily have his best interest at heart. I think if I was a professional footballer I'd just pay a specialist lawyer to make sure the contract was what I wanted and not pay for an agent.
That's because back then we would buy an older player who had the confidence and ability to do things. Now we use a spreadsheet to buy kids with absolutely no experience using statistical analysis and it is absolutely **** in terms of a. Success and b. Entertainment. There's also the fact that we were a TEAM then whereas now we are a collection of assets who happen to work on the same bit of grass on Saturdays
I've said it for years. Agents should either be paid set rates that are decided by the fa/EFL so there is absolutely no benefit to the agent of squeezing more money out or of forcing his player to go to certain teams. Or they should simply be employed by the fa and assigned to players like you say as lawyers
Apparently Maja s agent got 1 million for his move to Bordeaux from Sunderland lastseason. So about a third of what the footballer s transfer fee was.C ant see what they have done to warrant such a sum.
