Brilliant, i haven't a clue about stuff like that, but it would be interesting to find out his answers. Should be an interesting one this.
Out of interest, how are you managing to secure the interviews? Is it just old fashioned networking/hunting them down or are the club involved in some way to help with contact initiated?
The club have supported us where they can if we've reached out. Majority have been through networking/headhunting though - either through previous contacts, Twitter, or the old 'friend of a friend' route.
Why FFS !!! He was never visible. And according to Hecky he took over recruitment that saw us relegated. Would love to see Hecky asking the questions.
Hecky said (to you Ben) that he had made clear that he would leave the next time a club came in for him. GG said he was "shocked" when Hecky agreed to leave for Leeds. Comment? The "new contract" with the release clause signed the weekend before Hecky left gave BFC half a million pounds compensation. Was that the price of allowing Hecky and Leeds to speak? Honest answers would be really good, but hard questions, I admit. But beyond that, the interviews posted to date have been absolutely superb. It is a mark of the job being done well when the subject is allowed to speak, and opens up. And in that respect, the series has been first class. Very well done on the series so far Ben, and I hope you can press GG for honest answers on the above.
Thought this had been answered. Wasn't the contract signed a while before but wasn't announced because of Patrick's passing.
Well exactly, because if the contract had been signed some time before how could Gauthier be "shocked"?
How hard was it for GG to understand the local dialect asked in the following manner: 'Arr ard worrit ter gerra grasp er arr people speyk in tarn'................bet yer daren't
And to add to that - Ganaye released an official statement from the club after Hecky had left - which Hecky took extreme abhorrence to.
Does he think that there were mistakes made in sticking too closely to 'the pla' - for examply selling Roberts which might've been the difference between survival and relegation. Not sure if this fits well with the positivity brief though! And what's next for him now
Gauthier was for a time CEO at Racing Club de Lens who play in the League 2 in France. As a young lad I went on a foreign exchange football tour and played in Belgium against FC Blankenberge and against a Lens based club side USO Lensois. On approach to the stadium in the Coach, my first impressions of Lens is that it was very industrialised re- not too dissimilar to Sheffield. Having said that, down the years it will have no doubt changed.? When Gauthier arrived in Barnsley, what were his first impressions compared to his life in northern France.? How long did it take him to "acclimatise" to life in South Yorkshire.? Finally thanks to you Ben for the very professional way the streams are brought to us. It's greatly appreciated.
