interesting article on one of my favourite ex reds, article few years old but still interesting https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...george-williams-university-football-interview
The spreadsheet doesn’t lie. Not that I’ve ever seen one that could tell me if a player could trap a ball.
the goals against was so low when he was marshalling back line, back and forth as one unit,Arsenal would have been jealous
Correct me if im wrong ,he was offered a contract but i think his agent was holding out for 250 quid a week more. Dissapointed we couldnt come to compramise .
I seem to remember he laid the blame for our woeful chesterfield performance solely at the feet of George and sent him straight out on loan while we lost match after match after match. He finally came back and we only lost 1 in the next 22 games he played.
Yeah it was harsh to put the blame on William's that day the whole team were ***** we always looked 2nd best. I've been to that stadium twice and both times we played shocking and got convincingly beat.
Is this turning into a lambast ex managers . Its about Williams someone check bk i am sure the reason he left was to do with his new contract.
It is. He wasn't wanted and was offered a small contract as a squad player (despite being a pivotal player in our promotion). He asked for literally a couple of hundred pounds extra and was promptly released
Which is what i posted . Hence i wish the club and agent could have come to a compromise as he was a promising good young player who could improve with coaching. Fault due to club and agent .
Exactly. Given the focus on developing young talent, I thought he fitted the bill perfectly. I was very disappointed when we let him go.
That goal against Peterborough. Scenes. Them ba5tards had nothing to play for but they came to wreck our season. And they would have done it were it not for Saint George.
