This is probably one of the best teams I have ever seen pull on a Barnsley shirt. Nicky Eaden is absolute class. Redfearn and Hendrie just boss it as well. Watson in the sticks.... just enjoyed watching it back..,
Beating Huddersfield 7-1 and going back to school handing out to town fans tiny cans of 7up and so few twigging.
Hmmm. Smashing Leeds at home thanks to Garry O'Connor - that's one of my favourites. Also Blackburn 5-1 with Hignett on fire.
For sheer entertainment.Wednesday 1Barnsley1. Barrowclough on fire. Mate told me next day. After Listening to the match live. Commentator said Wendy had better bring another ball on second half cos they’ve not seen the first one. Poxy bleeders still managed to score a goal.
Rotherham 2 Barnsley 4 (1982) fantastic performance from a great team and an absolutely electric atmosphere. Stuart Barrowclough gave a master class in wing play and crossing the ball.
So many to choose from but this is one that stands out... Barnsley 5 Leeds 2 Hammill tearing them apart in the second half was just brilliant. We'd even given them a goal start and they still couldn't touch us.
Hudders 1- 3 Barnsley, couldn't stop smiling, got home to A fridge full of 3ltrs of Frosty Jack's & 1ltr of Skol Super, now that is a snake bite
That has to be up there as one of the best nights ever. I was in with the Huddersfield fans and managed to keep my mouth shut, somehow.
Yeah they would have gone 2-0 up more than likely but he brought their player down and was sent off, reight win that.
Agree about the 4 -0 win against Charlton in the promotion to the prem season we were immense that game and it convinced me that we were good enough to go up.
When I saw the title I was thinking "Scrabble" For the most emotional it would be the Bradford City game. However for shear pleasure, I would have to go for the JPT final against Oxford. We had a great time before the match with the Oxford fans doing their club proud but to see my team actually win something after 50 odd years of watching them really was a pleasure to behold.
Favourite Barnsley game....v Man City in the league cup...atmosphere and result were unreal. Favourite game ever was Nuremberg v Fortuna Dusseldorf. Having followed Fortuna for a few seasons we knew 2 things....1. Dusseldorf was a brilliant place with very friendly people and 2. the team was mediocre at best but the atmosphere was still superb. 17/18 was different though....started well and by the end of September they were top of the 2nd division. On the strength of that I booked us a road trip to take in the last 2 games of the season just in case they kept it up (doubtful), Seeing as the missus has MS and wheelchair bound this was a bit of an undertaking but we'll try owt once. Come January....still top of the league so we start thinking about tickets....asked the disability officer at Fortuna....no chance all already snapped up, time for plan B.We'd arranged a random match at Nuremberg as random football fans from England in November to get our foot in the door but "cancelled" due to it probably being too cold for Kim....but we still want to go but when it;s warmer. Straight on the email ....remember us....can we have tickets for the Fortuna game ? No problem, pick them up at the gate on match day Come the end of the season (having thrown away a 4 goal lead in one match) they managed to clinch promotion with 2 games left. We went to the final home game where it was a party atmosphere as we could all relax as promotion in the bag. Had a great weekend where we met up with loads of other Brits but the game was a forgettable 1-1 which meant Nuremberg leapfrogged to go top. They only needed a draw for the title that had looked like ours all season. Down to Nuremberg via Frankfurt....the whole city was in party mood. Again met up with more Brits pre match and had a silly amount of beer. They all helped us get to the ground where we were charged the extortionate amount of €5 to get in. Full house of 50000 in great voice. Nuremberg 2 up early on....at least we are promoted. Usami pulls one back....just a consolation. Niko scores a worldy in the 80 oddth minute.....getting interesting. 93rd minute...Aayhan scores....3-2 to us....6000 Fortuna fans go crackers....including us in the home section . Full time....everyone on the pitch including us....the whole place, home and away fans, all rocking....everybody happy and we nicked the title back that we deserved Back into the city....one big party....what a day !!! I wasn't a pretty sight on the plane home the next day Made so many friends, so many memories....brilliant
flew home from family holiday early to watch us beat chelsea in the fa cup chatting to a bloke at the airport and he said you should have stayed on you've got no chance
Barnsley 1 Chelsea 0 I came away from that game feeling as though I'd been playing, kicked every ball in the last half hour
