I think Martin Lewis advised to pay the outstanding balance on your credit card then if everything goes tits up you will get a full refund. If you don't then you will lose your deposit obviously.

Resigned to our 2 weeks in Dubrovnik being pulled. I know we won't go anyway because it seems almost certain that even if tourism was allowed by then, there will lots of restrictions in place which will make it feel less like a holiday and more like same prison sentence, different prison. TUI are allowing swapsies on any holiday due to leave up to the end of June and most hotels for next year are available if you want to delay the booking for up to a year. I had a look the other day and found that to move it to the same dates next year will incur a price increase of £380 which sticks in the craw and is what is delaying me confirming the swap. That and wishing that I could go this year until I am resigned to the inevitable. I will get round to moving it though soon.

I was looking at the new year period though and found very reasonable hotel prices in Berlin and return flights, including bags, for two of us, for £140. Very cheap for the christmas and NY holiday period. So I took a punt and booked it. Hotel can be cancelled right up to 7 days before departure and I wont go bust if I lose 140 quid on the flights.

We do Berlin every Christmas.....not booked this year yet but flights are half what we normally pay (Easyjet from Liverpool £100 between us return) and hotel slightly cheaper....we usually do 6 or 7 days returning on 27th.New year usually costs a fortune if you are lucky enough to get in.Its still quite expensive where we stay but probably a third less than normal and they have vacancies. Will look at terms and conditions of changing bookings before I commit to owt....already got 2 lots of flight vouchers and hotel vouchers to get through in a year plus we have 5 days in Berlin in August that may or may not happen,

Would be our first time in Berlin but it has been on my list for a while. Really hope it can go ahead. We got a very nice looking hotel, B&B, around 600 yards from Brandenburg gate where the main NY crowds are, for 6 days covering 28 Dec to 4 Jan, for 2 of us, for around £650. Is that reasonable? I didn't think it bad. Certainly compared to Madeira where Easyjet are still wanting 800 quid just for the flights.

VERY reasonable....we have to stay in decent sized hotels due to our lass needing a wheelchair friendly room so prices are usually £200 + a night on the 30th to 2nd. We usually pay £60 - 70 a night over Christmas in a 4 star near Alexanderplatz so much more our price range. Flights for New Year usually similar to Christmas depending on the days you decide...we fly from Liverpool as the flight times and prices suit us better.

If they still go ahead the Christmas Markets now run into the New Year ;)
