No one wants to build a team for nine games though .
We have good contracts in place but lots of clubs in this league have players out of contract in June . They’ll want clarification from EFL so they can sign or not sign if down or up .

If the season does end now & they either void it or go with the current standings then Hull fans must feel incredibly lucky. In free fall since selling their two best players in January & certainties to go down in my opinion

I like the idea of just promoting, crowning champions and not relegating - means barely anyone will be able to complain

...and good for us of course!

The "sporting integrity" argument is a nonsense imho. Where's the sporting integrity in playing behind closed doors, in neutral venues, with squads markedly different from those last seen? It's no less artificial than ppg, tossing a coin or throwing dice.

If the EFL want sporting integrity to decide leagues maybe putting teams who have broken their FFP rules at the bottom of the league.

It's a very fair point. All I am saying is we may cancel the season and only end up been able to play a third of next season. So 2 incomplete seasons. I don't have a answer. Just seems all the football talk is assuming next season will go ahead without issue.

If season is voided will be quite happy to forego winnings - tbh thought it were pretty miserable odds (7/2 on a 'survival' bet placed in March)
However my bet on BFC to beat Fulham 3-0 away did o.k.!

Yep it’s all speculation no one knows what will happen not even clubs or FAs .
Finishing the season is the only sure fire way of fairness but it’s not looking likely this will happen.
If we can’t start the league as has been suggested till September I can’t see EFL ruining chances of a potential full season to play nine games tbh .
Maybe start a full season and a discount for tv to compensate for not finishing as they could argue they had advert payments for matches played .
Any other idea apart from finishing season is artificial and there’ll be loads of versions of fairness .
It’ll be a debating point for years to come whichever way it’s done imo .

The fairest way that I've seen suggested going forward is to handicap next season (whether that be 20-21, 21-22 or whatever) is to start it with points allocated or deducted from each team based on the mean points earned last season (because let's face it, 19-20 is now last season) in each division.

Said in a post way back when the promotions are granted but no relagations suggestion came out that this would be the fairest way forward...its now obvious that even playing on doesnt work as most teams can't field the same players..there would be no crowd and travel plus physical contact would be an issue.
Yes we would benefit but how many teams could really complain..although I heard a Brentford fan on talksport who not only had them promoted automatically but am sure they were gonna win the Euros and the World cup next season.....reality is nobody knows so everyone is equal....which sounds fair..

That’s not my point though. If this season doesn’t finish before the end of June, Wednesday, Reading, QPR, Derby etc. That realistically have nothing to play for, they aren’t going to spend money on bringing in new players. They will just play what they have. This means that teams still to play them have a massive advantage, one that ruins the competition even more than cancelling it, in my opinion.

Definitely, another scenario look at bolton aswell in league one the way I read it yesterday in the papers meant they would be having no relegation from league one or league 2. Bolton were docked points for breaking the rules certs to go to league 2 and could get lucky now.

If no relegation is even mentioned to the clubs the EFL will wade in and fine derby and Wednesday 50 points....then stand proudly by and say look that showed them.

Surely if the season is cancelled Bolton’s penalty must be reapplied next season

I fail to see how they can justify operating one system for the Premiership, another for the EFL, yet another for the Conference & Conference Nort/South whilst the rest of the Pyramid is to be decalred null & void.
From top to bottom the whole of Professional/Semi-Professional Football is inextricably connected with what happens in one League or Division having a direct impact on the ones immediately above and below so if one chooses to stop right now with no Promotion/Relegation, everyone else must follow suit. That may not suit some (Barrow in particular who are 12 points clear with 9 to play and seem almost certain to return to the EFL next season) but will save others (Norwich, us, Bolton, Southend to name but 4). Out of the whole Football System in this country the only certainty is that Liverpool have qualified for next year's Champions League but if we are to apply "one rule for all" then they should not be declared Champions however much that hurts. Cup competitions could be run to a completion as they are an independent entity. I'm sure there are enough holes in my argument for someone to have a field day ripping it to shreds but that's just my view
