    Brilliant ,
It was actually posted on our forum when paddy signed for us but can’t remember who did it tbh .
It’s a privilege to be able to mention Paddy as one of our past players imo.

One of my favourite ever Barnsley players. The more others disliked him, the more I loved him.:D

"He's lazy." "He doesn't track back." "He doesn't work hard enough". Just some of the comments made against him on here.
For me, I couldn't care less. I thought he was a welcome throwback to a bygone era where skill was appreciated. Probably the right player for us, but at the wrong time.

It's a bit like Ashley Ward and Hignett in 2001/2 season. There was talk of Hignett coming back on loan but nothing came of it. However, I wasn't particularly bothered because I don't think he'd have been the same with Kevin Donovan, Chris Lumsdon and Gary Jones alongside him in midfield. Then Ashley Ward if he'd come back from Bradford. With Kevin Donovan and Garry Jones where are you getting your ammunition?

I think everything has to click and Mccourt would have been better during the 11/12 season when we were flying under Keith Hill.

    Absolutely spot on .
I loved him reminded mr of sir Ronnie Glavin when he had the ball at hos feet.
Wrong time to have him in the team .
We just couldnt accomadate a player with so much skill without the team ethic.
Personally he would be my no 1 in the team .
Just like Pieterson in the England cricket team.

Dean Gorre could have been great for us but he didn't fit into that clugger team ethic either and was hardly played by Steve Parkin until it was too late. We've had a few players here over the years at the wrong time. Mark Stallard, Mike Sheron, Chris Wood, Garry O' Connor, Danny Haynes. All peaked at other clubs.

Would have loved the Ponte belting that out for him. A little bit of Springsteen never hurt anyone.

I remember seeing this a few years ago and thought it was dubbed. I'm not sure now, it makes no sense whatsoever.
    Bloody genius player though.

That goal against Middlesbrough. One of my top moments at Oakwell, still standing in stunned disbelief with my mates at half time.

    Gerrim on your show.

20 Bensons and a couple of pints of Guinness should do the trick.

    Totally agree with you.

He's the sort player I watch football for. Skill, flair, the ability to produce the unexpected and produce a sense of WOW. Basically excitement - I can't get excited at good shape, hard work and tracking back.

Flying under Keith Hill? We only stayed up that season because Portsmouth were docked 10 points.

I'm not sure a team with Vaz Te and McCourt in it would have got far. Both were brilliant on their day, their day being once every few months.

I thought the first half of the season saw some exceptional attacking play and we were in play-off contention until we lost Butterfield, Drinkwater and Vaz Te.

Apparently they’re still rioting at the sale of Paddy.

I still stand by that view because he was an extremely fortunate person to have an ability that millions if not billions would give their right arm for. He was doing a job that many would consider a dream and yet he was wasting his career happy to be a bit part player in a mediocre side when if he put in even ten percent of the effort that others put in he could have been at the very top of the game. I've got absolutely no doubt in my mind that if he wanted to he could have been one of the most valuable players in the premier league but his lack of effort and an unwillingness to try meant he was at Barnsley. An amazing player but also an amazing waste of a talent.

Very similar to Hourihane. The player we signed was lazy and set to waste his talent but fair play to him he knuckled down and put in the effort and he hasn't looked back since. If McCourt had done what Hourihane has then he'd be one of the most famous players in the world
