I’ve just heard on the news that we can ready for tax increases, benefits and public sector pay freezes to make up the deficit caused by covid. But on the bright side, I heard no mention of Google, Facebook, Starbucks, Costa etc being asked to put a few quid in. So feel free to resume bring town centres to a standstill by queuing in droves to put even more money in some of their pockets. See, It’s not so bad
Barnsley has already had to endure a 40%(biggest in the country) decrease in funding, as you say happy days.
I don’t mind paying a bit extra at the end of the day the government have been paying my wages for the last 7 weeks
If you haven't been furloughed look forward to the privilege of higher taxes after risking your lives.
Top and bottom of it is another 10 years of austerity because of the governments incompetent handling of the crisis.
If they’d have handled it more competently would it have had a different outcome economically? Furloughing would have still needed to happen, as would loans/grants to keep businesses afloat.
Yes, still waiting for mine to be processed. It has to be the worst scheme ever invented. Luckily I got a tax refund from HMRC, which has kept me head afloat for a few more weeks.
That's good @John Peachy . Have you managed to find some sort of govt assistance that applies to you now?
It would not have lasted as long as it is going to and most importantly not as many lives would not have been lost if handled more competently, every person with a brain knows it will cost the government money and the government will try to recover the money they are spending I was just saying like, another 10 years of austerity heaped upon us and not the tax dodgers.
No, hopefully UC will be paid at end of month. I qualify for this Bounceback Loan scheme, but not that keen on taking out a loan TBH & they clearly say they are not to be used for personal expenses, which could be used against me if I defaulted to "raise the veil of incorporation".
Yes that maybe so, but have noticed that when wages are paid, loans are guaranteed etc. we aren’t anywhere near the end of this thing and they’re already talking about clawing the money back from taxpayers. But in contrast, and for example, when the Bransons of this world find out that they can’t make enough millions from OUR rail system and decide to walk away from a signed and sealed franchise, who does the government claw those losses from?? I sure I don’t need to spell it out.
The Chancellor said it wasn't a problem. However, there are clearly people out there furlough happy and it makes my feckin blood boil.
Wait until they come out with with this owd chestnut "we're all in this together" all ways makes me chuckle.
