Both Shearer and Wright had Trevor Sinclair overhead kick v Barnsley in their top 5. Hadnt realised that Barnsley fans occupied both tiers for this game. Amazing following.
It was also voted as the best overhead kicked goal of all time, thus far. Dave Watson didn't even smell it. Fabulous strike. Watched the programme after " Match of their Day." Featured the epic Manchester City win over QPR, when they pipped Man Utd to win the Premiership title. I'd forgotten the incident involving Joey Barton and Carlos Tevez. Barton was sent off for elbowing Tevez in the face. As he left, he purposely aimed a vicious kick to the back of the Man City players legs. Definitely got serious issues that bloke. What an idiot.
He said he decided he was going to hit a couple of other City players to try & get them to react & get sent off as well so it was 10 v 10. I’m not convinced, think he’d completely lost the plot.
I can’t think of many off the top of my head. I loved Peter Crouch’s volley for Stoke when he got the ball with his back to goal closer to the touch line than the penalty spot. Did that Gerrard goal against Middlesbrough get a mention? The dip & swerve on that was incredible. Also I remember Papiss Cisse who had a spell at Newcastle scoring an incredible volley at Chelsea
Of all time in MoD parlance means since the Premier League began. All goals scored before then cease to exist.
You're right. Best goal I ever saw in the top flight was Eddie Gray v Burnley in the Revie era when he danced past about 7 players before tucking it in. Very McCourt-esque.
Remember being there that day.In the 60s and early 70s went to elland rd,swillsbro n bramall lane etc if reds were away.As for MOD goals Barnard versus Huddersfield takes some beating.
