Let's face it rangers were never going to catch celtic but it is harsh to relegate without finishing the full season
Hearts have been given permission to appeal for a temporary restructuring (expansion) of the league so it is not done and dusted yet. Hope they get to stay up.
League 2 have though havent they? Decided on promoting teams but no relegation. Celtic winning the title was a matter of time like liverpool.
Yes league 2 saved Brechin from the drop and stopped either Cove Rangers or a south of Scotland side getting into the big league. Grossly unfair.
How would you have done it in your opinion, null and void? The spl have followed what the French league have done and I imagine if the premiership cant resume will do the same.
Redrum I’m torn here. The fairest way would have been just scrap the league. It did not happen and we start afresh once normality can be restored. That decision would have been warmly welcomed in Barnsley but from my team’s point of view it would have meant another season in the championship. So selfishly I welcome what has happened but more clubs have lost out and been harshly treated.
Yeah no matter what happens without finishing the season someone was going to end up disappointed. I just think it would be harsh not to give runaway leaders the title.
it’s a fu**in disgrace. I’m absolutely appalled. It’s a travesty of a miscarriage of an injustice. How can the SPFL have not allowed Celtic to stick another 10 points difference between Celtic and Sevco. Outrageous frankly.
Quite the achievement for Celtic 9 in a row. 5 when Rangers weren't in the league and once when the season finished early.
Yes indeed. But don’t forget why the new Rangers missed so many seasons in the top league. They cheated their way to their 9 league titles. Sullied indeed!
Yeah I'm sure rangers would have caught up the 13 point difference and 25 goal difference gap.... hardly tainted rangers only have themselves to blame if it had ended I think the points gap would have been 20+ What next for Gerrard now? Plenty of.money spent no silverware...
its a brave decision to say that's it, PPG and we promote / relegate on the basis of that. i cant see any other way around it though unless everything is null and void. To cancel the league and still have play off is just plain daft, our league 2's decision last week was the daftest thing ive ever heard and if the EFL go with it they want locking up. for mine id take PPG and then cancel all games including play offs, promote the relevant teams including the 3rd in the instance of our championship and relegate the teams in the bottom 3 also. Yes its tough on the others who miss out on potential promotion and those relegated but there is no other way around it. anything else is a fudge.
To relegate from the championship on ppg wouldnt be so harsh on us but charlton only slipped into the bottom 3 on the last game and are only 2 points behind hull who are dropping like a stone with a better gd. I would put money on charlton overtaking hull with still 9 games to play.
Thing is only 1 team has been relegated. In the normal scheme of things 11th place could be relegated too, via the play off with the 2nd championship side. Plus it is very arbitrary as there were 8 games left and Hearts hadn't been at the bottom for all last season.
