I take it you don,t watch the press conferences then they tell you every day how many new cases there are. Yesterday they tested 136,000 and 3,400 new cases.
Interesting article I todays Times - describes the whole 'R' equation as an 'Artificial Construct' -it's just something that the Government have come up with to try to convince us they have a handle on this whole Covid 19 (they haven't!) and what has happened with the App being trialled on the isle of Wight?
210 last Monday so will be nowhere near 500. The situation is much better than the scaremongering press would have us believe.
The notification system went down on Saturday. The figure of 90 isn't a true reflection, true figure around 200-250 hopefully.
Of course its an artificial construct - its a model to describe how a disease is spreading Its not something invented by the government though - its an internationally recognised measure and has been used for ages. Its influenced by both how contagious a disease is, and what steps are taken to restrict it. Also as long as recovery (or death) from an infection means you cant get it again for a while even if you do nothing R declines naturally over time. The problem with the current UK measuring system though is we can know what R really is as we dont know how many people have been infected - an effective test track and trace also gives you an accurate R
I wonder what the R rate is now in London and the east with zero cases found in the past 24 hours..... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...-new-coronavirus-cases-24-hours.html#comments
Its clearly dropping but you know basing on just one day doesnt really make sense. lets see if it stays that way for a few more days That said its very encouraging news and also quite surprising as it means somewhere the science models are wrong unless the virus has mutated, or many more people have had it and not shown symptoms than were expected and we have indeed reached herd immunity much faster than expected Or the Daily Heil isnt accurately reporting - unlikely I know

Many hospitals continue to record zero deaths. The infection rate for South Yorkshire needs to come down mind.
Well the rate of infection continues to drop even if the government still seem to be plucking testing figures from nowhere for people tested to be so low from such a vast amount.
Some of them delivering food. We've just seen a meals on wheels sort of guy take some food to the old lady next door. He was all nicely PPE'd when he got out of the van, then he blew his nose into a tissue and continued to do the delivery with the same gloved hands.
They've got to try and meet the new target Johnson announced of 200,000 by the end of the month and are probably building it up so that people don't get suspicious when it coincidentally happens on the last day of the month again.
