I can't see how this is beneficial at all. It would just widen the gap. Either you can afford to run your football club properly or you can't. This in effect is a penalty for well ran clubs aswell.
Should be a salary cap in every league but the big prem cats will never allow it. Might make it a leveler playing field and we cant have that.....
I'm not even sure how you begin to implement a salary cap in a league where two of the divisions would adhere to it and the other two would ignore it.
If they had of been a salary cap in the championship a few seasons back we probley wouldnt have lost bree, conor and winnall when we did and Watkins minght not have put a transfer request in.
I think there was an element of hero worship in hindsight. Apart from Hourihane they've all done bugger all after leaving us. You can add Scowen, Lindsay, Davies, Moore and Bradshaw to that list as well.
I think the salary cap for Lg 1 is far too low as is the max squad size of 20, including 8 home grown players. This could be construed as restraint of trade. Alternatively it does mean uou can have 20 players earning £125,000 per year and hope none of are seriously injured. Just seems to me the people running football don't have clue. I sense a breakaway from the EFL coming soon.
Good we might get rid of a load, will better for national team to give more British players a chance. Makes no odds to me if they all b*gger off dont watch prem much anyway.
All 5 playing in the championship, all 5 earning considerably more in wages. whilst the above isn’t any guide of success it’s unfair to say they’ve done bugger all, The vast majority of footballers achieve very little.
May get round it with big signing on fees. Bonuses. House purchases. If there’s a will there’s a way. To make it more attractive to players.
To be fair brad potts left to go to a team in the division above. We didnt have to sell he still had 2 and half year left on his contract and the reported 1.5 million was peanuts we replaced him with jordan green who we bought for about 200k. I dont blame him for leaving for a team in the division higher especially with the stick he 1st took.
Was and got a one off payment but principal is same. Derby were all edged to have 10 such agreements in place.
exactly this, you would need a worldwide salary cap for footballers but that would never happen as there are too many parties involved to agree that so unfortunately we are just going to keep seeing the wages and fees rise.
