Reviewing items from bought through Amazon....

A bad review can ruin a business. Some people just don’t care. Though on occasions it’s their gripe that is the issue. For whatever reason
. Eg
Competition. rival hotels.
One out of five for a top notch hotel cos the fried egg was hard and not soft as requested.
Paying eff all but expecting 5 star luxury. Usually a ten bob millionaire comment.
Was 5 minutes walk to the tube station. Took me six. Not on when I’ve only got one leg.
Fantastic hotel with really nice hosts. Wouldn’t go again. The couple were gay.

 

That could be because there are two ways to review on Amazon. You can leave a review of the product or you can leave a review of the seller. If you leave a review of the seller which is actually about the product it can be removed. If you write a review about a product and it criticises the seller then the same applies.

Also for future reference regardless of whether it's fulfilled by Amazon or a third party you should raise your issue with Amazon directly if you get no joy. If you raise an a-to-z claim against the seller then you WILL win. Amazon won't even investigate or even contact the seller. The first they will hear about it will be when money has disappeared from their account.

 

Yes but in this case the review was solely about the product and as, I said, the review was largely favourable (4 out of 5 stars) and an explicit reason for the 'missing' star was a constructive criticism and recommendation. The seller was also the manufacturer and whilst I am no engineer it was pretty obvious that there is a design flaw. I subsequently saw a review of the same product where someone had made a similar observation (and that review was visible). I do have the nous and kit to modify it should I wish by drilling out the offending rivet and replacing it with a self locking nut and bolt.

I regularly review products I have bought on Amazon sometimes highly recommending them and on rare occasions(I usually do lots of research before committing) I have been disappointed and say so. This is the first time I have ever fallen foul of the 'community rules' and still cannot understand why. It is actually a very good well priced comment and the seller was very good at communicating shipping info too.

 

Tbf that's a perfectly valid complaint.
