If the season cant be finished. No one is worse off, you have the precedent of matches being abandoned in the 80th minute where the result doesn't stand. A lot of clubs will potentially lose out from all divisions so I can only see court as an option.
Litigation will follow from bottom 3 I think but that’s it. Maybe Fulham too. Suspect the plan will be get Brentford forest and Preston to vote for it then when play offs can’t complete give the promotion to Fulham therefore none will be able to litigate because they will have voted in favour
Setting aside the FFP thing for a moment, I can't help feeling this makes us look all a bit Sheff Utd/Tevez to those watching on....
I can't help but think this coupled with that vvanker Parry's other proposals will consign our club to the lower reaches indefinitely.
What makes me laugh is clubs can't finish this season but they can play next season behind closed doors?
This might be the case but it won’t stop me coming down for the odd game and Wembley excursion. But let’s be honest here football will not restart anything like it finished. For one thing the big money will not be there and those big clubs relying on it from Sky and Euro league will suffer most. Gonna be a lot of worried big clubs going about.
Shouldn’t do imo if the money is drained out of the game and attendances are once again significant to clubs finances then we are on a par with Preston , Blackburn, etc .
It would, I think, depend on the contractual obligations that all clubs have to the final, binding decisions of the EFL. If any decision of the EFL is final and all clubs have contractually accepted such then I would suggest that the EFL can do whatever they like re: the season. I don't know what the legal position is of the EFL though so am only playing devil's advocate.....Maybe someone on here knows (this forum after all has more insight and knowledge than Confucious)
Fecking phone, had an andriod update which knocked my predictive text to ****. Also onto 3rd can of Elvis Juice, I'm starting to feel all shook up!
Doesn't really avoid court though Helen, does it? And would you sooner fight Barnsley in court for £7M or Leeds and West Brom for £190M?
I’m not really fussed about that aspect of it as the efl has consistently shown itself as weak when dealing with ffp so I expect nothing less. My 2 issues are that I’ve thought we’d stay up this season if the league was allowed to play out and secondly that teams in absolute free fall before the break have gotten away with it.
I get your point but we were seven adrift with nine to play. Three of top six to play and playing like a bag of *****. I'd accepted relegation ages ago.
Precisely this. The decision would have been on simple financial analysis. They’ll have set a bit of cash aside to pay ‘the likes of Charlton Barnsley etc’ off
