The Prime Now app is actually really well laid out and easy to use. Even my parents might be able to do it... Hmm maybe! Pains me to say it but Amazon is great and there's lots to like about *the idea*. Sadly workers rights and pay isn't one of them. Bezos has so much money he could make such a positive difference, really sad
It is very easy (apart from the separate baskets confusion). I do hate that I’m giving money to Bezos whenever I use Amazon but it’s just too damn convenient at the moment.
Because I'm a UK resident and keen to remain so for the time being which would make me "unlawfully resident" in France if I just stayed here indefinitely. Even pre-Brexit, Freedom of Movement isn't unconditional.
I could but I'd rather not. Apart from any other plans I might have, my wife is French resident and it's my 50th birthday on the 12th so I'm keen to hang around in case she's got me anything nice...
to be honest i'm classed as vunerable ( 63, disabled and mi,) and my daughter does all mine, well she makes her partner do it ( he's ex squaddie same as myself so its all vets together sort of thing + if i'm upset then she's upset and he knows 5hit rolls down hill) anyway i do go supermarket shopping when i have to but take all the steps i have to, homemade mask, gloves etc, but i've found the place that SEEMS to have it cracked is morrisons at cortonwood 2m in the queue to get in, trolleys sprayed down, hand sanitizer outside, one out, one in, shelves well stocked, good system for the check outs, brandy at £16ltr, also i live in monk bretton so it gives me a nice run out, gets the oils and seals on the falcon moving and swishing, and some fresh air and a change of scenery for me
I’d love to agree with you re Morrison’s mate. (Live 1mile away and use it most if not all of the time) But I do have a major issue with the way it’s basically a free for all, once inside. No arrows. People going in all directions. ( I understand not locating an item then having to go and search) but it’s a bit of a mare. Also ( and not just a Morrison’s issue, ) Face coverings are recommended. Why does it appear 90+% of shoppers don’t want to wear. Is it vanity cos I just don’t get it. “I protect you. You protect me” Simples. IMO.
have you tried tesco and asda ?, tesco was ok but the shelves were poorly stocked and asda didnt have the spirits on offer
To be honest mate yes I’ve tried both. But for distancing I found Aldi the best for trying to keep it orderly once inside and the layout of the store is more suited. Just don’t stock everything I want. ( sticking to a low carb diet due to my diabetes is not as well catered for. )
I managed to book a delivery from Morrisons this morning for next Sunday. It has a £4.50 delivery charge even though the order was over £40. I'm not sure if this is because I live miles from the nearest Morrisons.( I don't have Amazon prime) . Do you get a delivery charge if you have Prime?
No delivery charge if you have Prime and your order is over £40 (you have to make your order through the Prime Now website/app here https://primenow.amazon.co.uk/ not the Morrisons one). You also get same day delivery (unless ordered late in the day and then it’s the next morning).
Bump for anyone ordering via Prime Now. If you click Amazon as the store, you can get a free Hallmark Father's Day card (add to basket, amount comes off after you choose a delivery slot and before you click the words 'buy now'). The price counts towards the £40 minimum for free delivery so worth adding if you need to get your total up. They also have a 'buy 5 for £5 off and buy 10 for £10 off' section that count towards your basket total too (same deal, amount comes off after you choose a delivery slot). You can get multiple of the same things. Annoyingly, not all of the things on the page are counting so it took some clicking back and forth in my basket to find which ones weren't counting. Typically, the £1 multipack of Cheetos that I tried adding 10 of wouldn't count so no ten free bags for me My house is now full of crisps as they have a 24 pack of Walkers for £3.00 and a 24 pack of Quavers for £3.00 so I got 3 of them at effectively £2 each and they have some porridge oat bars for £1.30 so I got 2 packs of those for effectively 30p each. 72 packs of crisps and 2 boxes of oat bars for £6.50 plus a Father's Day card for free and £15 added to my basket total. Oh, and delivery is even easier to get now, no refreshing needed, same day 2 hour time slot (unless ordering late and then it's next day).
Thanks @JamDrop. Trying out Amazon Prime for shopping and TV is about the only thing I'm looking forward to about getting back to Blighty given the prevailing situation. 3 weeks to go, crossing booked, just waiting for the online quarantine forms to be launched now.
It's a lot easier to get a home delivery now from the usual supermarkets than it was a month or two ago.
Thanks @Thrappo Tyke. It sounds like I should be OK but it's nice to know there's a fellow red on call in case of emergencies. How are you with childcare? (Just kidding)
Wife went on Iceland website last night around 5-6pm ish. Got a delivery slot for this morning 7-9am. Have to just keep looking and you will drop on and make most of it by stocking up as much as they'll let you and as much as you can afford. Having said that, no need to go mad either because like I said, you can drop on a delivery if you just keep looking every now and again. Been alternating between Asda and Tesco deliveries ourselves, with a few top ups from Iceland in between. Not just freezer stuff from them either. Worth a look.
Bump. For anyone planning on using Prime Now to do some shopping, the Quaker Oats porridge bars (2 in each pack) are now only £1 each, meaning you can get 10 packs (20 bars) for free! The discount will be applied when you choose a delivery slot and go to your basket. This also has the additional benefit of adding £10 to your basket total so you only need to spend £30 to get the free delivery.
