I really am pissed off with this shower purporting to govern us. As the lockdown commenced I was at my caravan on the east coast and was told I had to go home because the government had stipulated that in order to protect the NHS I needed to live at my normal residence and could not remain in my holiday home. I would have preferred to have stayed at my van because being over 70 and one who has a son still at home whose young children (my grandkids) stay with him at weekends fortnightly as part of his parental responsibilities. The safest course of action would have been for me to isolate at my van even though I would have missed the kids but not so according HM Govt. STAY AT HOME AND PROTECT THE NHS.

What a load of ********. The mantra now appears to be PUT YOUR FAMILY FIRST AND SOD THE REST

Why do you constantly insult people on here? What's the reason?

I love the illogical politically motivated argument on here, from those screaming for Cummings dismissal (and even getting up a petition to have him sacked) using the mantra 'one rule for 'them' and one for everyone else.
Yet those members of the public who flouted the lockdown rules, many with far less 'valid' reasons than going to family for childcare support, some of whom were repeat offenders were merely given warnings, relatively small fines or turned back, if caught in the act.

I am not defending anyone for breaking the rules but the hypocrisy from the usual crowd on here is breathtaking.

It is not condoning what he did, especially if the allegations of repeating the visits (denied/unproven incidentally) are true, but 'One rule for all' should mean at worst , Cummings should be given the maximum fine. Or are you saying ALL the people who were caught breaching lockdown should be summarily sacked?

Certain sections of the media are stirring up a sh*tstorm and see it as an opportunity to get rid of Cummings who has been a thorn in their side.

I dare say I will get the , 'Tory boy' accusations from the usual clique.for this but I don't really care. Opinions are opinions.

You must surely see the difference between one of the architects of the policy breaking it and Joe Public breaking it.

His job makes this worse. If I swore at a child on the street and intimidated them, I’d expect to be sacked from my job of working with kids, I wouldn’t expect someone working in a completely different job to be sacked as it’s not relevant. He works for the government and helped to make the rules, his conduct is relevant to his job.

Also, he didn’t go to family for childcare support, the child stayed with them the entire time and played doctor. Common sense would have been phoning his sister/wife’s brother and making plans for if they got worse and having a check up call each day. Common sense would have been arranging a friend/local church group/Deliveroo to drop food off. Let’s pretend the worst case scenario had happened and they had both got really unwell at the same time and gone to the hospital. The kid would have gone with them, hospital would have contacted social care and they would have contacted family. He could have even carried instructions with him with contact details written down if neither could have managed to phone sister/brother first. They make it sound like the kid was going to get dropped off at the nearest orphanage.

Then, to make matters worse, whilst they were there, they went on trips out. Then he went back again later. There’s no excusing this whichever way you look at it.

There’s a bit of a difference when one is part of the team that devised the rules. His position is completely untenable and he should have resigned immediately.

Anyone else think it’s a huge coincidence that it was his mum’s birthday whilst he was there and it was his wife’s birthday on Easter Sunday when they were spotted at Barnard Castle (during the 10 days when he was supposedly laid in bed?) They never even had it did they? (I hope!) Silly, silly liars.

Boris Johnson sacking Cummings is less likely than Orville sacking Keith Harris.

Something has to give. Will Boris grow a backbone or will he lose the faith of the electorate forever?

Even Tory MPs now calling for him to be sacked

Stay at home protect the NHS. Remember that? Maybe you don't, living in Italy, but it was the government's central message.

Cummings, the Government's Director of Communications, ignored this message at least once, maybe twice. Durham's police chief says he broke the rules (unlike many he's not even been fined).

If he'd have followed his own rules he'd not have an issue. Tens of millions of others managed it under far more strenuous circumstances.

The Scottish health advisor was sacked when she visited her second house. Advisor for SAGE bit the bullet for having his mistress/lover round. It's called ACCOUNTABILITY.

You're not a Tory Boy, you're an idiot for defending the indefensible. Even some Tories can see that.

Why doesn’t Boris sack him?,because Boris is quoted as saying Cummings is a genius,so he is going nowhere fast, well apart from the odd trip to get a pease pudding fix

Those in cabinet that publicly backed him and in doing so called the police, press and public liars need to consider their positions.
The Attorney General, Chancellor, Foreign Sec and Home Secretary (though only retweeted foreign sec sentiment) are high ranking positions of state and the public must trust them.

I've never seen such behaviour in my life, why is Cummings so special? Knowing where the bodies are buried?

Steve Baker who now seems angry about the Brexit N.Ireland situation due to his lack of understanding, said Cummings only looks up to Gove, who somehow always gets a job in cabinet. Gove and Johnson supposedly hate each other. Gove now doing extreme damage inside the cabinet office with Cummings along side him.

    God help this country.

He must know things that make Clownman unwilling to sack him, that's all I can think. Everything that comes out of these sh1thouses should be seen as a pack of lies. Fake Government.
