I’d also love to see the press say something like “say, for example, we were going to publish a photo tomorrow of Mr Cummings walking around Barnard Castle, what would you say to that?” Just to see Boris squirm.

Obviously they wouldn’t say that unless they had one, but how uncomfortable Boris got at that question would tell quite a story.

My MP sits in one of the safest Tory seats in the country, Cons since 1841. Her only 2 tweets over the weekend told us Rutland water was still shut and to buy a pie if you're in Melton Mowbray........which is not bad advice tbf.

I do not think that Johnson has any alternative but to sack Cummins, unless Cummins resigns. Surely a bloke well in the public eye must realise what a balls up he made. If he is not removed then they may as well end lockdown right now.

Prediction: My son has special care needs and there is nobody in the south of England can provide them

this is a strange development. He can’t apologise after he ordered Johnson to save his skin yesterday, he can’t admit to anything else, as he ordered Johnson to stick to the story yesterday, he can’t resign either because he has the morals of an alley cat it appears.

Surely the best course of action is to bunker down and ride it out, anything he says today unless he does resign just fuels the fire?

The only option for him is to resign. Johnson cannot sack him now after he stuck up for him yesterday, unless he states that Cummings lied to him, and I very much doubt Johnson will ever do that.

It’s should come as no surprise to anyone .
We have a Prime Minister that tried to prorogue Parliament to get his way , that refused to come under scrutiny to credible political commentators even though every other party leader did so, he only gave statements rather than answer questions on his campaign trail , preferring to hide rather than be quizzed .
Anyone that chooses to do that has no integrity and imo something to hide .
As one political commentator said “Don’t like saying we told you so but”

The only thing I can think is that he will explain that his son has Special Needs and that they needed family to take care of him. Try and get the sympathy vote.

It will probably work, too. People are fúcking idiots.

It will be nice to finally hear from our prime minister for the first time since July, anyway.

That will only work for some people. If this was me, and in the middle of a pandemic, I knew I may have to seek out childcare for my child if my wife and I contracted the virus, I would have a system in place for this. I would ensure that my childcare fall back came to me, as I could not guarantee that we would be fit to drive, especially 260 miles.

My prediction: Boris, you stood before the country and lied through your back teeth. Nobody believed you.

Both of them have high profile, well paid, full time jobs in London, would he seriously expect people to believe they have no provision in place even for the general day to day, let alone during a pandemic.

It's like none of the Cummings family own phones. I can understand them worrying about what would happen with the child if they both got ill but I can't understand them travelling 264 miles with Covid 19 (and going on multiple day trips) purely on a 'what if?' They could have easily phoned sister and asked IF they were too unwell to look after him, would she come and get him?' Sister could have checked in by phone once a day/couple of times a day/every hour if needed and if the situation deteriorated then SHE could have travelled and picked him up. Absolutely no way, in any circumstance, should they have travelled with Covid. What if they had got into a crash and needed medical or breakdown assistance? Especially if they were unconcious and couldn't warn any passers by, who may get to them first and try to assist, that they were infectious. What if the child (or themselves) needed a toilet break? The wife never even got particularly unwell, they never came close to needing any childcare at all, they risked people's lives (including their child who was cooped up with them in the car for 5 hours) for nothing.

I don't know if it's been mentioned (there's too many pages to read) but couldn't some family member come and pick the child up from Durham if Cummings was that desperate?

Thanks, I've added that disclaimer onto the post. Is she a member of the family, do you know, or someone that just has the misfortune of the same name?
