Obviously, if you desperately need the money back that's a different thing. It doesn't seem to be the reason people have been stating on this thread though.
Having just read it, it’s very clear what they are offering, the only bit that isnt clear is how to execute the flexi ticket option. In real simplistic terms they are offering either the money back or an option to get you’re moneys worth later. 1) Money back - simple 2) Donate ticket or keep tickets for later date. It’s clear they would rather not give the money back, but then neither does any other business been affected by this so they are not alone, but at least they are giving every single person a choice to suit them. Not sure what else they could have done.
Sorry about that. What I was going to say was "well said" Paul. I wonder if some on here are actually supporters of the club.
I think saying "you can have your money back or support the club" is a bit off to be fair. May aswell say you can ask for your money back or pay Alex Mowatts wages.
We have Walton, if we are struggling due to lack of income extending contracts doesn't really make sense.
Maybe he's not deemed to be good enough? I dont know. I must admit I thought Sami was only here for the season cos of his family circumstances.
Maybe the board feel it’s important to secure the playing staff for the near and long term future of the club? As much as most don’t seem to believe it is possible.
Yes it's a bit convoluted but what else can they realistically do? For me, if you need a refund take it. If you don't donating to key workers seems a very sensible option. And again, those who can (and i consider myself fortunate to be in that category) renew for 20/21 appreciating it's a punt if you get to see any games but, if those who can don't take a punt, will any of us get to see a game at Oakwell again? Surely this is a chance to show Conway et al there is a passion for the club and we can all look forward to that magical day when we get back to Oakwell. Albeit conceeding it will inevitably be a 0-3 reverse to Accrington. In freezing rain and blowing a gale- would we have it any other way? You redzzz.
Fans are not turning on each other. The vehement ones who have a bone to pick. Are the ones that have strong opinions. Telling me they’re not going to renew, based on opinions Not facts take the biscuit. ( I don’t pretend I know all the facts. But what I write on the issue are facts that I can back up as presented to me a various meetings I have attended and quite clearly make sense.) Some think we are conned and try to influence folk. I’ve never tried to influence anyone on opinions. ST admits quite freely that he won’t attend meetings. To be lied to. But talks on his opinions. not any facts. True or false. Rhyhill tykes views are opinions not facts. Yet some fall into the same trap on his opinions. I interpreted Gallys statement as a gripe at folk using opinions rather than fact. It’s because we’ve got billionaires that some folk take the huff. If we were a club run by fans ( my preferred method.) we would be bending over backwards to try and save the club. ( those in a position t contribute) I care not if you think it’s vintage Conway because of the way you perceive it. You takes your pick you make your choice. Take up one of the suggestions or don’t renew. I certainly have no opinions on whether people renew or not and definitely don’t care for what reason. But I do believe once you’ve decided not to renew. Yes come on here and throw your reasons of why your renewing. But don’t bleat about it after. As many do. Not necessary. Come on as a fan and support not criticise for the sake of it. Ive criticised the board ( via fan engagement along with lots of others) on the way they’ve relied on youth ( which I think they are learning has been an issue) and the plan . Difficult to criticise the business side. As I don’t know enough about what it takes run a football club. And the overheads. Tax. police. Wages. Contracts. Everyone wondering where the millions on transfer fees have gone. Paid in stages. Monies withheld or not honoured. ( eg Hull)
Not a fan of the owners and think the communication could have been clearer but as explained by Gally seems a reasonable offer in very difficult circumstances that I hope all of us who aren’t desperate for the money will take up.
Spot on. Sales on Lynsey, Pinnock and Moore didn't exactly give us a flying g start to the championship season did it!
I hate getting involved, but you've repeated this line a number of times now. I assume you are referring to this notion that he is a paid director? From the Q&A just prior to lockdown, on the official website: https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2020/march/qa/ Dane followed this up with clarification on increased director pay. “When publishing our financial records, our accounts for last season, we had only one board member who was an employee working for the club and that was the CEO at the time."
100% this. Nothing wrong with the options available at all, and I actually applaud them announcing it now as it's such a tricky situation, but the communication could have been a touch clearer. Some people have laid it out better within this thread and that's all it needed. No need for anyone to get feisty over it though.
Personally I'll be asking for my refund anyway. I'm a paying customer and I'm legally entitled to one. Since the current owners took control of the club I have felt disconnected as fan. The goal it seems was buy the club cheap (with borrowed money) increase profitability to cover purchase price then sell on at a profit. Not a unreasonable business venture and done correctly keeps the club self sufficient. It doesn't however make me want to donate my money towards the continuation of that goal. I'm just a customer in the owners eyes and now they have nothing to sell me but still want my money.
