Give it a play. I'm not going for 100% acceptance here. Most people really won't care. But a couple of people won't just like it, they'll love it. It will penetrate your soul and you'll love it for the rest of your life. It will become part of you. It's absolutely amazing. If you don't like it, giving it two minutes won't hurt, it's definitely not offensive, you just might find it boring. But if it grabs you, it's just something else.
Nice one Jay , I am a massive Van Morrison fan and agree his music can take you place some else . At the age of 44 I sometimes feel a bit isolated with that opinion of his music so great to hear a fellow reds fan with the same appreciation in music and a realisation of the emotion it can invoke .
I’ve had a very enjoyable night, in no particular order I’ve been letting the neighbours enjoy these* Frankie Valli - The Night (Which is one of the greatest songs ever written) Mogwai - Fear Satan and this banger from Barnsleys finest! * I heard them banging on the wall, I assume that was appreciative!
Lost a friend about 10 years ago to cancer. She and her husband were Van fans, Everytime I hear Brown eyed Girl and Have I told you Lately, I smile and get a tear in my eye at the same time. RIP Trish. Here’s a nice cover of him doing Sam Cooke’s Bring it on Home from 2017 On YouTube,
“the night” four seasons ,always reminds me of BarBar Club in town early seventies . They must have played it ten times a night . Not complaining loved it .
This is one of my favourite music clips, I never realised just how talented a musician Prince was until I saw this
Different class is Van. Had the privilege of seeing him live a few times. One time, he laughed and cracked jokes. How about that!
One of the most uplifting songs ever written IMHO. After the win over the Jacks at the Millennium Stadium, first song I played when we got back to the car. Got the thought after watching the film Fever Pitch.
Anyone explain why I've got no videos. ( Suspect the first one is due to the Van Morrison comment) Everything that appears that may be a video is a blank page with a sad emoji type thing. ( I'm logged in ?) Unless it's summat to do with the missus's tablet. Mine is on charge. Try later. Edit, there they weren't, now they are, after returning.
The Night is absolutely stunning. I think it's on the soundtrack of Northern Soul, one of my favourite films of recent years.
I’m in and out of Van Morrison. When I’m in the mood I find him wonderful and his music transports me. When I’m not I’m really not. The Night is joyous an explosion of aural ecstasy. Just marvellous. I’m in a bit of an Elastica phase at the moment short and sweet or short and sour.
To be honest jay because of hearing issues I always struggle to pick up lyrics sometimes. Even with my favourite artistes. And look up the lyrics and even the meaning behind some of them. As I did with this to a degree. Great feelings behind it. I am in the find boring type of artist category to be fair. Along with the eagles. Morrissey etc. Cos of hearing issues it's always the music first. lyrics second. Thankfully there's something for all of us. ( Hate the old rock and roll music though. Bill Hayley type stuff)
