Please go on 'we are barnsley' Screenshot_20200604_194749_com.facebook.katana.jpg folks and look through all the comments.
First of all I'm not against people protesting if this can be done safely but this is not the issue I'm highlighting.
The majority of the replies are hugely disappointing. I'm not remotely surprised by this though.
    Depressing times.

    It's pathetic.

The year is 2020 and people still can't see past skin colour.

Judging by your comments I wouldn’t want to go and view what’s on there, social media can be an horrible place at times.

More people comparing it to lee Rigby's death I see, lee rigby was killed by a terrorist who would have killed him regardless of his skin coulor, that day is only intention was to kill a british soldier in uniform regardless of skin coulor, lee Rigby's mum has issued a statement saying stop using her sons name to spread hate. Cant educate some people.

Without sounding ignorant, can someone explain what these protests are going to do? I understand we have the freedom to a peaceful protest but seriously what is protesting in Barnsley or anywhere in the uk for that matter?

The actions of those officers was appalling and I hope they get what they deserve but these protests which usually turn voilent don’t do anything imo

    1) show those affected in America that the world is shocked by the events they've seen

    2) to show solidarity

    3) to get our government to exert pressure on Trump

I've seen a couple of people making this comparison and thought exactly the same thing. I seldom agree with James O'Brien but he absolutely nailed it when he was discussing this on his show today.

    1) It won't be a peaceful protest because idiots will turn up and cause bother just like in London.

    2) It is iresponsible for him to organise such a thing.

Lincoln had one today and whilst it went relatively quietly (I’m told) , it’s reported a large quantity of those that turned up came by train.

It's rather the context of the majority of the replies that i find depressing and that's essentially what i wanted to highlight.
Personally i wouldn't advocate anyone going out and protesting right now as i know from personal experience how highly contagious this virus is.

It's about time some people engaged their brain and did some serious risk assessments before deciding to do things. In this case compare the unlikelihood of any gain with the probability of doing harm. There's safer ways of registering your disapproval of things.

I cant say better than Pontyender's post just above. There's still hundreds of people dying each day from covid 19, do their deaths not matter too?

Of course they do but it's not either or. Protests can be socially distanced like they were in Hull today.
