If managers are blatantly pressuring folk. And ignoring rules. Report em to the union rep ( who should jump on em like a ton of bricks and wouldn’t have to declare who reported em) or LHA. Anonymously if afraid of the comeback. ( I know you have issues on that front) It Would hopefully at least put the sh1ts up em. The more complaints there are can only be a good thing. When enough get together. Watch it work. My wife was an ex RN. Not afraid to speak her mind. ( A new manager was brought in to get shut. of nurses in the Private nursing home. And was blatant about it) Out of five. 1 other in the union. Other three not. (They got a trumped up charge .) The 3 non union members ended up with 1yr warnings. My Mrs who kept all briefing notes. Brought the union in. No case to answer. As they were working to the company procedures. Both her and the other nurse. Cleared. Of any wrongdoing. The other 3 had there warnings rescinded. (cleared) I get really annoyed at non union members getting the benefit of union members subscriptions be it pay or anything else on T’s and C’s. Only needs 1 to speak out the others will follow if they’ve owt about em.
Me too! When I saw the OP title was half expecting to see a picture of a Rab C. Nesbitt type character in string vest, sprawled out on a sofa, paralytic and surrounded by empty bottles of Mexican beer! Sadly, just another post on Covid.
It's like Soviet Russia in the 50s I'm afraid. There is a real culture of fear. We have hordes of manager's who seek to shaft everyone and anyone who takes their fancy. We are treated with a healthy contempt. These managers dictate 'sleep them on the floor' when we have no beds. They are desperate to curry favour with the trust 'elite. These managers who retire with a generous pension at 55 then turn up 2 weeks later in a nice newly made up job for 2 days a week. It's corrupt to the core and they are mightily adept at protecting each other. Our union is pretty abject I'm afraid. I last contacted the branch secretary about 6 weeks ago and I actually felt I was speaking to one of our managers. I will expose what's happening but I will have to do so anonymously. This will go to our local MP who is very attentive to such matters and the media. I have tried in vain over the years to get support from my colleagues but they are too fearful of recrimination to speak out.
I've had to personally contact the chief exec to help safeguard me and my family after dubious decision after decision from our 'management'. Strange how things changed very quickly thereafter.
Is your branch sectretary a full time paid convenor/employee. If so seek out the reps to put the pressure on him/her to do summat about it. Or contact head office re your concerns. Don’t take it lying down mate. They are there to represent you not management on such matters. If I find a colleague is just being mischievous for the sake. I will tell em. But your case sounds serious. Make em take it so. You pay your subs tell em.
