Our lass has seen this https://ao.com/product/65u2963db-toshiba-tv-black-73799-108.aspx Is it cheap for a reason or is it just last years tech etc? I’m not looking for a magical cinema experience just a decent telly at a decent price etc! oh and would 58” be enough for an average living room as that’s only £329 Ta
65" would be too big for our living room but depends on how far away from the TV you would be sat I've found this online before: TV viewing distance (in inches)/2 = recommended TV size I was looking at a 55" recently, 58" would be my limit
Not fussed on Toshiba as a brand . Sometimes the bigger tellys end up cheaper cos not every house is big enough for one!
It's £400 quid for a reason, the refresh rate is only 50 Hz so personally I'd give it a miss.It would be like watching through a jar of treacle.I'd go for a 55" Sony. There's some around at a descent price.Aim for a minimum of 200 Hz refresh rate for a clearer picture.
We have a 50” and personally I think anything bigger would be a waste. Sure someone could explain better but we was told if the TV is too big for the room it detracted from the quality
For me. One big enough to fit in the alcove mate. On a flat wall I’d probably do a template to try and envisage it. it gives all dimensions in the description. Too big or indeed small it’ll look out of place. and depends what distance you’ll be watching from n’all.
As already stated, 50kh refresh is not great, it could affect your eyes with what might seem to be a constantly flickering screen. It might seem imperceptible but in the long term might be important. Check it out on Google. It has Bluetooth which is good. Get some decent tv HiFi speakers or it might sound very tinny. Our tv has a refresh rate of something like 600 or 800 but it doesn't have Bluetooth.
It's more than likely not actually a "Toshiba" but a rebadged "Vestal" set made in Turkey. A lot of the cheaper sets by the bigger manufacturers are the same. Take a look at these: Hisense 55" with 5 year guarantee https://www.johnlewis.com/hisense-h..._72b2a539302b9be28297bb44d6f614bd&tmcampid=48 or Cheaper model at Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XRXM54H or a 65" at Currys on Ebay for £426.55 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HISENSE-H65B7100UK-65-Smart-4K-Ultra-HD-HDR-LED-TV-Currys-/113861287787 Otherwise look at LG or Samsung both have decent sets around that price point.
TV shows are only 25 FPS or 50 FPS. There's no reason for more than 50Hz if it's only being used for TV. Games consoles are only at 60FPS, so any more than 60Hz is useless for that.
Keep telling the missus that anything bigger would be a waste, but apparently she doesn’t share that view......
Make sure you calibrate it, loads of TVs just left straight out of the box not showing their true quality.
Bought a 55inch Hisence tv 6mths ago around £340 lovely tv no problems at all with it.It has Amazon,Netflix and loads more apps built in.
I bought this one in the end, seems ok for a lower/mid range telly! https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-an...VU4BQBh1hFAroEAQYAiABEgJgHfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
^^^ This is the best advice on this thread. Don’t fall for the marketing hype. Any increase in FPS is computer generated to ‘guess’ what it should be. A true enthusiast would turn off such systems and revert back to the actual broadcast picture. In fact on some movies, it makes the picture look strange and false.
Last years tech probably not much difference ... not sure what this year's looks like. If you haven't already I'd for it
Only area that anything over 60Hz is useful is for PC gaming, but then you wouldn't use a TV anyways. You'd use an IPS panel gaming monitor. Not sure why they even make TVs over 60Hz.
