The Yorkshire pudding they had looked amazing so I googled it online and it should be at seven quid Good to see them at Locke Park. It's a shame they didn't visit Oakwell considering they were driving towards it.
Off topic. Ricky Tomlinsons Biography an absolute must ( Read quite a few biographies and his is my top choice) . Includes his term in Prison for trumped up union activities.
Very passionate about the miners. He owns our local social club - it appears in the last episode of this series
Re my Previous reference to his autobiography. Dare I say one of my favourite human beings. . ( not just cos of his union commitments. But His humour. His generosity. Which he doesn’t publicise. Others doing it instead. Not all plain sailing as there’s his warts and all. ) My favourite expression he gave . ( cos I see myself as such sometimes ) People mistake Passion seeing it as aggression, during speech.
What I like about him is he,s so down to earth would imagine he,s just the same whoever he meets. Top top bloke.
Met him a few years ago at another club he used to own- he was stood talking to everyone. Lovely bloke
Ricky Tomlinson owns a small cafe(or used to) near to L.I.P.A. I think they call it the Green room Cafe. my Daughter was trying for L.I.P.A. & we were in this cafe when we got a txt from Katie asking us to come & pick her up just as we were walking out in came Ricky, I was double gutted, mainly for my daughter but I would have loved an half n hour talking to Ricky about his acting & union days, alas it was not to be.
Met him in there too. It's on Duke Street in the city centre- they have some great tribute acts on in there. Saw a fantastic Prince one a few years ago. Heard recently he's not got it anymore - think he owns one near me now just off the end of the M62. If you watch the series it's the last place they visit
Elephant n castle bottom of my st. Where he had the Yorkshire pud. Bigger queue at fish shop than Oakwell. Cheeky git.
Ricky great guy . His autobiography is a good read. Did time due to his principles. Proper hard core Socialist.
In the first episode he goes past a bar called The Casa - it's a dockers pub near the Philamonic. Last time I went in some bloke took a look at me and my mates and said it's a bit too left wing in here for you - told him I was from the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire and my dad had been a striking miner - I asked him if it was left wing enough for me? He shook me by the hand and waved me in laughing ...
