No offence Mario but that suggests that if the Club didn't need to balance the books, they wouldn't be selling players. That's not our operating model.

Some idiots in the Championship will still splash the cash as they’ll see weakened competition as a chance to get promotion. Doubt we’ll get as much as we could have for them but I’m sure there’ll be interest.

If, as was hinted at a while ago, that we as a club used the previous proceeds to cover the entire length of players contracts (I still can't see where this has been withdrawn)

Then why would we need to sell again. If as the club have also stated, that we have been selling ST's at the same level as before.

So, forgive me for being a little thick on this and may have missed a massive point somewhere.....

But I will say again, if as was explained previously (proceeds using to cover all the contract of a new player), just where the F*** is the money going/gone ?

Got to say, I don't buy into this club bashing that some have already started. How negative is it possible for people to be.

Reading some of the comments on here just amazes me..

Suggesting that the club are coming cap in hand to fans to bail the club out is pretty much ludicrous.... I think the reaction towards supporters has been first class from the info I have seen.

They have zero option but to play behind closed doors, losing revenue. Yet they do the moral thing of offering either a pro rata refund, a flexi ticket you could even give to a friend, a chance to donate the ticket to key workers.. So for starters no season ticket holder is going to be out of pocket. On top of this season ticket holders get to still watch the matches albeit not at the ground but on iFollow, again for no cost.

Then finally we get the chance to buy a season ticket for the lowest cost for years and years, and we even have a shot at remaining in the championship. Not all clubs will be offering season tickets to fans at reduced rates, I'm guessing that many may go the opposite way next season trying to claw back some operating cash.

So I am full of praise for the stance taken by the club. Could those who claim they are being asked to bail the club out put forward a reasoned argument to support their view? I doubt it, just love being negative probably.

I don't also buy into the argument that our billionaire owners should throw money in now, this would just go against the whole philosophy of a financially self sustained stable club, creating a false platform. Fans buying season tickets isn't the club fleecing it's supporters, surely that is how football works.

Then we have the regular, we will sell these players....Boring.. clubs sell players, clubs buy players. We don't have a crystal ball so why jump on the negativity bus before we even get the chance to complete this season, utter joke IMO. If we retain our championship league status, we have a great chance of keeping these players. As others have pointed out Barnsley are not unique to cash flow issues and can't see clubs offering silly wages. Plus one important note, the transfer window isn't even open so nobody is leaving ATM unless they are considered out of contract.

Show a little positivity and faith at least until the season is complete.. This break in the season may actually be a bit of a leveller for a team that was still gelling, other clubs also have to try and hit the ground running. If we can win the first 2 matches, think the league table is going to look a lot more interesting, especially if the clubs under FFP investigations are duly penalised this season.

Hope, Faith, Positive vibes from me...

Thanks for this. It's heartening to read. I think we've done the best we can in hard times.

Luton are charging 500 quid for their tickets for next season.

Will you being doing a matchday programme for our home matches? Bit different behind closed doors but it's another revenue stream even if people have to pre order one in advance so you only get printed what you've sold.

As it says at the foot of the latest article, more news to follow regards behind closed doors games and how fans can engage etc.

Top stuff. More options for us fans to generate extra income to the club is a good thing. Just a quick look at some of the lower league play off teams shows they have been innovative.

No worries, just don't get what angle this negative stance is coming from..

Oh, I have an ambitious idea which could be good.. reckon there is a chance it could fully work with social distancing as well.. here we go haha..

At least one of our upcoming home matches, how about a drive in cinema down at oakwell screening the action inside, audio to car as per the normal drive in cinema. £10 per car (same household / social bubble of course in the car). Online ticket purchase.
Pre match online refreshment order for half time, delivered to the cars. Only potential time when people allowed outside their vehicle is for toilets which would have to have some social distancing controls in place.
Could generate a little extra revenue for the club.. just the basis of an idea really, could include 50/50 draw pre purchased again online. generate some positive noise pollution when we go crazy on the air horns when we score lol..

Can I ask, are you connected to the club in some way? As your replies suggest you could be.

Brentford producing a programme that can be ordered on-line -- the one for the Barnsley match - last one at griffin Park - A4 format with history of Griffin park included.

I don't think it's possible based on what we've been told so far. They've been very clear, the governing bodies, regards the amount of people on club land during each game. It's a great idea though.
